The blonde girl left to find a Crystal in the gift store. Something about Iris-messaging a camp.
Rachel and Percy left soon after wandering down to the carpark.
Nico and I sat down on one of the benches.
"What are their names?"
"Whose names?"
"The other boy and the blonde haired girl."
"Oh, sorry, their names are Percy and Annabeth, I forgot you wouldn't have been introduced."
"It's okay," I say hugging Nico again. I really could get used to hugs.
"Harley?"
"Yeah?" I ask looking up.
"Back there in the workshop you screamed..." I looked up at Nico fearing the worst for a second. "But it looked as if you were in pain... I... why were you hurting?"
I don't think Nico could hear the whispers. Did that mean I was the only one who could?
I played with the hem on the old baggy grey shirt that I was wearing. Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon hated me because of the whispers and screams. Would Nico hate me too? Looking up slightly I noticed Rachel and Percy coming back.
I wouldn't have time to answer anyway.
I jumped slightly when I realised that Annabeth was even closer and had just arrived.
"I talked to Chiron," she said once Rachel and Percy were in range. "They're doing their best to prepare for battle, but he still wants us back. They're going to need every hero they can get. Did we find a ride?"
"The driver's ready when we are," Rachel said.
Nico stood up and offered me an hand; a comforting smile on his face.
Looking up gratefully I took the hand and we followed the procession down to a big black car in the carpark. The driver was explaining to another man that an emergency had occurred and another car was on it's way.
We piled into the back, and as Nico and I were the last to climb in we got the window seat.
The car seemed even bigger on the inside. With televisions and everything. I smiled thinking that Dudley had never ridden in such an expensive car. He would be furious that I had.
The others started raiding the mini fridge and snacks that were in the back. I was hesitant to touch anything. I didn't have much of a choice when Nico placed a can and a bar of chocolate in my hands.
The soda, which Nico ended up opening for me, was a very odd drink. I was fizzy and made my eyes water. I studied the contents for a while wondering how they had made it so fizzy. Chocolate, I decided, was one of the best foods in the world.
No wonder everyone had gone straight for the snack foods. They were even better than I had dreamed.
"Where to, Miss Dare?" the driver questioned as he got behind the wheel.
"I'm not sure yet, Robert, we just need to drive through town and, uh, look around."
"Whatever you say, miss."
Percy turned and asked, "Do you know this guy?"
"No," came Rachel's response.
"But he dropped everything to help you. Why?"
"Just keep your eyes peeled. Help me look."
I giggled quietly at Percy's reaction before taking another bite of the chocolate and gazing out the window.
