"Bet you can't catch me!" Mabel said proudly, while running from the now exhausted Dipper. "MABEL!!! *cough*... we have to go back to t-the Mystery Shack.... Why did I have to have such a hyperactive twin sister?" Dipper breathed loudly trying to catch his breathe.

"Dipper, your no fun! Your suppose to catch." Mabel said rather dramatically while standing next to the now nearly past out Dipper.

Suddenly, Dipper grabbed Mabel by her sweater collar. "We are going home! I can't believe you made me come after you! YOU COULD HAVE BEEN HURT!" Dipper said angrily, but with a relived tone in his voice.

"Aww, come on Dip. I just wanted to see more of the town, this place is so interesting!"

"But this place can be very dangerous, especially at night! Now, we are going home." Dipper said while dragging Mabel to the Mystery Shack.

"What is so dangerous about this place? The people here are so kind they wouldn't hurt a fly. I seriously saw this one man on the street run away from a butterfly!"

"Just trust me on this one Mabel, in this town, things are not what they seem.. Finally we are here!" He said, seeing the Mystery Shack in the distance.

"Fine! But tomorrow I want to see the rest of the town." Mabel grumbled. "Okay okay, I promise tomorrow we'll see the rest of the town." Dipper said admitting defeat.
"YEAH!!! Also Bro you need a shower, you stink." Mabel said while covering her nose from the smell of Dipper's sweat.

"You try catching a hyperactive 12 year old girl running though the woods in the dark." Dipper said sarcastically while stepping inside of the Mystery Shack.

"...Mabel...Mabel...Mabel." Said a voice in a low whisper.

"Huh!?!" Mabel turned around, confused, to see no one there.

The next morning when Mabel woke up, in her new room she now shared with Dipper (he wasn't very happy about that), she jumped out of bed, startling her sleeping brother.

"Geez,Mabel. Keep it down!" He yells. Mabel just rolls her eyes and snickered, getting a pair of cloths from her suitcase. After getting changed in the washroom, she grabbed an apple from the kitchen and  ran outside.

"Kid! Where you going?" Stan yelled after her. "The woods! I'll be back soon."
"Not so fast. You're part of the Pines family. You work at the Shack." He says and Mabel frowned a bit. "Okay..." She sighed. But then smiled brightly. The young girl couldn't stay sad for long. Enthusiasm took over.

She spend two hours sweeping the floor and getting scowled at by her brother for doing everything wrong.

"Dipper! There's a bat in the kitchen! Get rid of it!" Stan yelled and Dipper rolled his eyes, getting the broomstick.  "Mabel your shifts' over. You can leave." Stan told her and she instantly ran out, into the woods.

She walked and walked, and then sat down in the midst of the woods. It was a cloudy day, threatening to rain. She sighed and looked around. In the distance, she spotted something.. strange.

"What in the world?..." Mabel said, becoming curious. A root cellar. She went towards the door of the cellar and tried to open it. But it was locked. "What is a root cellar doing in the middle of the woods?" Mabel thought out loud.

Suddenly she had a little idea. She took a bobby pin out of her long brown hair and fiddled a bit with the lock. Not even a minute later she heard a silent 'click'. Mabel opened the old door, ripping cobwebs apart in the process. Dust came rushing into her face like a stink bomb, and she sneezed.

Behind the door was a staircase. Leading down somewhere. 'I wish Dipper was here.' Mabel thought. She went down the dark staitcase, feeling her way down the cold walls with her finger tips , and finally reached a strange empty room. Only one object lay on the floor, the skylight beaming down at it like a spot light. An ancient looking maroon leather book, with a strange six fingered hand, and the black number 3 on it in the middle. She had to show Dipper.
