It's been 38 hours since I've last slept.

I do not know if I will finish this story in time or if it will be good enough to win a Watty!

I am afraid to hit the orange Publish Button but my life depends on it. Her life depends on it.

I will not ask you for help. I am not allowed to.

It is against the rules of His "Death Game".

My eyes close as I doze off again but I quickly recover opening them as wide as I can so that He can see me through the computer webcam. It's just a webcam but I can feel His stare.

Cold, merciless...

My mind travels back 36 hours.

I had just refreshed the "reads" one more time. I was so delighted that I had just passed the 80k mark and was ranked #107 in "paranormal".

Wattpad is absolutely amazing I thought as I took another sip of hot coffee and decided to look at my watch.

Oh my! It was passed midnight and the following day was a work day!

Still, nothing could get rid of my smile as I folded my writing notes containing the outline of the few remaining chapters to complete the first book of my Trilogy and prepared to log out.

Suddenly a red dot! A new comment on Endohuman: Love Vs Duty right on the opening chapter "Short Author Note".

Yipee!

I clicked the link to check it out and reply to the new follower:

Nick_Dream: Hi!

NUMBER_ONE1_FAN: How's the race going for that Watty Award? Think you'll finish the book on time?

Nick_Dream: lol? Race? Watty? Nah... not in it for that. Just like to write! :)

NUMBER_ONE1_FAN: Everyone is in it for that Nicolas! And you are a great writer.

That was weird. How did this fan know that my real name was spelt Nicolas. Hmm.. .Probably a coincidence. Not many people knew that I was writing under the pseudonym Nick Dream anyway so it was unlikely that anyone knew my real identity, let alone a friendly fan from Wattpad.

Nick_Dream: Aww thanks!

NUMBER_ONE1_FAN: No seriously. You MUST win!

Ok. This is getting creepy I thought and decide to enter one last messga just to be polite:

I freeze in my chair and feel the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. I quickly  reach out to my phone and dial my ex-wife.

"Nick! Do you have any idea what time it is?" she answers with a yawn!

"Where is Sally?" I ask anxiously.

"What? Why? Did you forget that I am on holidays with Bob. We are coming back next week. I had told you last week that she will be staying with my mum this week. You forget again? You and your stupid book... Is something wr-"
