It was 6:30 on Monday 15th January in a small town called Copperville.  It was a girl’s birthday but no one knew who’s birthday it was.  The girl lived in an orphanage because her parents died in a car crash, when she was 1 month old.  When she woke up at 8:00 she heard a really loud noise, “it sounds like a song”, she said.  “It’s happy birthday for the mystery girl”, said Lilly her best friend.  “Who’s the mystery girl”, said the girl.  Lilly said “no one knows that’s why it’s a mystery”.  So the two girls went down stairs to have breakfast.  After breakfast the girl said to her friend “go upstairs I’ll be there in a minute”.  So Lilly went upstairs and the girl got the courage to ask the head master if she could go outside but the head master just said “what gave you that idea Mary”.  Mary said “the mystery birthday girl, I want to find her”.  When Mary went upstairs Lilly asked Mary what was wrong.  Mary said looking sad “I asked the head master if I could go find the mystery birthday girl”.  Lilly said “I’ll help you get outside but I can’t go with you to find the mystery birthday girl even thought I am very curious myself but someone needs to cover for you if the head master asks where you are”.  Mary said “ok we need an idea so I can get out without the head master spotting me”.  Lilly and Mary thought for hours and hours not thinking of any good ideas to get out but at 1:00 they heard a fire alarm go off Mary said “I need my stuff to get out you go I will try my best to get out before the fire gets here”.  Lilly said “I’m not leaving you if you die I die with you”.  So Mary and Lilly hurried around the room grading all of Marys stuff.  When they got outside the head master called out every body’s name and told them what happened but Mary left after her name was called out and she told Lilly that she would be back as soon as she finds the mystery birthday girl but before she started searching she went and bought 2 phones so they could keep in contact.  Mary said goodbye to Lilly and said I’ll keep you updated every day.  At 6:00 Mary knew she would have to find a place to stay for the night so she started knocking on people’s door.  When she had knocked on the 10th door an old lady named Maureen came out and said in a nice calm voice “what do you want?”  “A place to stay” said Mary.  “Come in and stay the night or more” said Maureen.  Mary said “thank you”.  When Mary went inside she saw that Maureen had a lot of really old antique stuff in her house.  Mary said “have you had dinner yet because I’m starving”.  “When did you last eat” said Maureen.  “At 8:15” Mary said.  “Have dinner now I just cooked it” Maureen said.  Mary said “thank you”.  So Mary went in and had dinner.  After dinner she had a shower and went to bed that was at 8:30.  She woke up at 11:55 that night and heard a sound down stars.  “Someone’s fighting with Maureen” she thought.  Then she heard “HELP, HELP MARY, HELP ME CALL THE POLICE” yelled Maureen.  “WHERE IS THE PHONE” yelled Mary.  “IN YOUR ROOM BUT BE CAREFUL THEIR IS MORE OF THEM UP STAIRS LOOKING FOR THE TREASURE” yelled Maureen.  Mary called the police and said they would be there as soon as possible, but they were just too late.  The robbers had found the treasure.  “They left with the treasure and Mary”, Sobbed Maureen.  Tom said confused “woo woo slow down there, who is Mary”, “Mary is a girl that was going to stay at my house for the night because she needed a place to stay”, Sobbed Maureen, “she’s also the girl that called you”. “Oh”, said Tom and Bailey at the same time with a puzzled look on their face.  Bailey said “we’ll need a description of what Mary looks like”, Maureen told them and then the police man Tom and his mate Bailey went outside and Tom said to Bailey “we have to find Mary”, Bailey yawned and said “what about the treasure”, “I don’t care about the treasure.  We need to find the girl” yelled Tom.  “Ok Tom whatever you say, you’re the boss”, said Bailey in a cheeky voice.  So they got in the car and Bailey yawned “can we look for the girl in the morning because I’m really tired”, “ok, we’ll start looking at 9am sharp, I’ll meet you at the police station then” yawned Tom.  So they went home and slept but Bailey couldn’t sleep now because all he could think of was Mary trapped in a dark room being torched by bad man.  He wanted to know if she was ok.  Now that he felt guilty he called Tom and said “I feel guilty now that were not looking for Mary I’m going to start looking for her now”.  Before Tom could say anything Bailey hung up.  Tom tried to call Bailey again to see were Bailey was starting to search.  Since Bailey didn’t want to wake anyone up he started by looking in the abandoned barns, but since he couldn’t see anything in them he went home and decided to get some sleep and look there first thing in the morning.  On the next day Tom was waiting at the police station for 3 hours until Bailey arrived at 12 o’clock.  Bailey said “sorry I’m late I slept in”, “no kidding”, Tom sarcastically said.  Bailey and Tom decided a plan for the next few days of where to look and for accommodation and the amount of food they can have each day.  The first thing they did was look around the town and ask people if they heard anything last night and if they saw which way the robbers went.  By the time they had planned and asked around the town it was 7 o’clock so they decided to have an early night’s sleep.  The next morning they finished looking around the town then they went to the next town called Blacksmith.  They got there at 11 o’clock that morning and decided to have some lunch and find an information centre.  The next day they asked anyone if they knew anything about a robbery in Copperville.  After asking around it was starting to get late so they found some where to stay for the night.  The next day they got up at 7 o’clock to look in the abandoned barn in town.  In that barn there were some torn clothes so they took that for examination.  They found the police station in Blacksmith and asked if they could go into the examination room.  The policeman asked why and after Tom and Bailey explained what happed in Copperville they let them in.  After examining the piece of clothing they found out it belonged to James Beauregard-Smith.  Now Tom and Bailey had to track down the criminal.
