[Mayu's POV]
~~~~~~~~~~
My phone buzzes as my heart races again, Yuta's calling me.
"Hey, ye, ye sorry about uhm before yeah. Just thought about what happened last year"
"That's... Not what I was calling about"
"Hm?"
"When you ran off you dropped a note, are you trying to confess to Mattan again?" He chuckled childishly
My face goes red "Ohmigoshpleasedontreadthatifyoudoi'llmentallykillyouinmysleep" I say, almost inaudible, yet he understood.
"It's fine! I wouldn't do anything like that!" He sighed, I heard him pick up the note from the ground "hey, whys it got my name on it?"
"Uuu hvnsowrwbwonve IT WAS A TYPO"
"Really? If it wasn't, I'm totally ok with it?"
"JuSt dONt rEaD tHE nOte!!!!" I shout into the microphone as people around me stared, I sat down on the pathway with a sigh "Just piff it, I'd never have the guts to tell them anyways..."
He paused, then attempts to change the subject "Hey, do you have homework club today?"
"Y-yeah. Why?"
"Just wondering if you were free, never mind then." He sighed "Go to school, I'll catchup"
"What? No, no. I'll walk back to you. Sorry for freaking out like that."
"Nah it's fine, thought you said you were gonna chill with Ika this morning as well"
"Shit..." I mumble "In that case, I'll go. Just... Don't read that note!"
"I won't, it's fine. I'll see you soon." Before I can hang up, he responds with something that makes my heart pound as fast as the speed of light.
Yuta: I'll be there to comfort you if he rejects you, but I know whoever this is for definitely likes you back.
You: What makes you so sure?
Yuta has gone offline.
The thoughts were pulsing in my head, He's read the note. My feelings spilled out onto paper, and he's read it. I can't get the thought out of my head, it kills me just to think of facing him. I don't hate him, of course I don't. I just didn't want him to find out, especially not like this. Besides, I have meetings all throughout the school day- except for lunchtime. If he's really read it, he'll most likely be there, At the Sakura tree. I'll just have to occupy myself somewhere else in hopes he won't find me, I hope he's not in any of my classes for today...
I could hear footsteps from behind me, without even taking a moment to assume that it's Yuta, I dash towards our hidden location. I could feel the drips of sweat slowly slide down my cheeks, soothing my skin. I was happy to see Ika was waiting outside for me.
"What took you so long?" She asked, I doubt she cared though. "Does this have something to do with this 'boy'?"
"Yeah..." I sighed with a slightly pink tinted face, "He's been effecting my life so much, I can't get over him even if I tried."
"Have you tried though?"
"I just said even if I did it wouldn't work!"
"You could at least try, considering our situation."
"I guess, should we go in?"
"Boss isn't here yet, she's got some surprise to show us so we're not allowed to go in."
"Whatever..." I flopped to the ground with my face in my palms, hiding my embarrassment. "I can't believe a boy is effecting me so much. I want to forget about him so badly.."
"You could always kill him."
"I doubt that would make me feel any better about the situation..." I could hear her sit down next to me, I turned to face her. "Speaking of which... you never really told me what happened'
"What do you mean by 'What happened'?"
"How... How I lost my memories?" Her face turned pale with guilt and sorrow.
"Thats not something you need to know right now." She sighs "What I'm allowed to tell you is everyone is involved"
"Who is everyone? Why can't you tell me?"
"We can't discuss this, at least not here."
"Maybe at lunchtime then?"
"Sure, there's a secluded district I know of."
"I see..." I sighed "I hate the new boss..."
"Yeah, Me too." She pulled out her phone "Kirai is nothing like Kyogu, He always made us feel like equals."
"Kyogu was the best. It didn't feel as if he was in command, but all of us were." A stare at my feet avoiding eye-contact, examining every dint and detail. "Wouldn't believe in a million years that they're related."
"I miss how things were." I now saw why she had her phone on, She was pulling up a picture of the three of us. "But what can you do? He's gone now."
"I know, but I keep waking up thinking he'll be back here at headquarters." I stood as I saw Kirai coming up the stairs. "Morning boss."
"Formality Kioge~" Kirai giggled as she unlocked the door to headquarters
I scoffed "Good morning, Boss." I crossed my arms and rolled my eyes.
"Better, How are you this morning Watashi?" Kirai smirks as she nudges Ikasu, Ika didn't respond. "Hmm~? Cat got your tongue?"
"I'm allergic." Ikasu
"Don't be so harsh now dear! Besides, it never said you were allergic on any of you records~"
"Who gave you permission to read those documents?"
"Hey Kioge, I wanted to ask you about that one boy... Yuta?"
My face went pink, how does she know about Yuta? How does she know I know about Yuta? "Yes?" I felt defeated, even hearing his name said by another girl makes me want to crumble.
"Even after finding out what he's done you still stay with him, why is that?" Kirai opened the door but held the handle still
"What do you mean by 'what he's done'? All he's done is help me..."
"What? The potion must have failed to keep your memories with you."
"Which potion?" Ika grabbed me by the arm and ran up the stairs to the roof. She didn't say a word after letting go of me, she just sat at a nearby bench and sighed. "Ika, is something wrong?"
"Yeah, I'm gonna get in so much trouble..." she leaned her forehead into her hands in sorrow.
"For doing what? The boss loves you." I sit down next to her whilst also turning my head to face her.
"I... I was supposed to give you an elixir to give you all of your memories back. All of them"
"Then why didn't you?!?" I gasp "Ikasu, don't you want me to remember everything?!"
"No! I don't! It's like we get a fresh start to get to know you all over again!" Her face quickly turned up to face me, eye to eye. "And if I told you what really happened you'd-" before she continued to say anything else she covered her mouth.
"Ika my opinion of you wouldn't change, even if you were the one who made me forget" I lied, it would change my opinion, but I needed to get that elixir off of her.
"This isn't about me Mayu!" She jumps from her seat "Its about you and Yuta!"
"What does this have to do with Yuta?"
"Because he was the one you knocked you out cold, moron!" She covered her mouth once again, then ran away. Due to all of our training, she was gone within a few seconds.
I sat back down, Yuta isn't really the one who made me loose my memories is he? It don't want to believe it. I noticed something moments later, Yuta had been standing there the whole time with a pink envelope in his hands. The envelope slowly floated to the ground once it slipped out of his hands.
My eyes drifted towards him, I tried to play it off. "Oh hey, you're here." I smiled, trying to ignore the sinking feeling in my stomach. His shock led me to believe it really was him. He remained silent. "What's the prob bob?" I chuckled, standing and walking to him.
Once I wasn't far from him, he crumbled to his knees. "I'm sorry!" His pleas were incredibly loud. It hurt me even more to see him like this. "I have my reasons! I'm so sorry!"
I kneeled down to talk to him, but he wouldn't turn his face up to look at me. "It's ok, I'm sure you have an explanation."
"It's not okay because my reasons are selfish!"
"Yuta, I'll listen to you."
He stopped and looked up at me, with a back wrenching frown. "Why?"
"Because I want to tell you something as well."
He stood and sighed, I did the same. "I'll go first."
"Is this a long story? If so, can I sit down?"
"Oh, right!" He walked over to the same bench me and Ika were sitting at moments before "I have a very, very long story to tell."
