Chapter 8

We were driving down a highway to the unknown destination that was in front of me. The sun had completely set and only blackness surrounded us in the car. Cole had packed extra food and we were currently snacking on sandwiches and drinking cold water which felt so lovely sliding down my throat instantly hydrating me after a few days of limited access.

Twisting slowly in the sky above to our left was a sinuous, shaggy ribbon of pink. It pulsed and brightened like a living thing. Cole pulled a left at a narrow, barely paved road that led through an unending black field. The car dipped through potholes and weaved, loose gravel rattling behind us. My teeth snapped as we went over a bump. The field rolled out for hectares in every direction, Cole pulled the hand brake and together we peered out of the windshield.

Hanging in the sky directly above us was the aurora borealis. Like a brilliant pink and green road, it snaked through the air and disappeared behind trees, a darker purple aura clinging to one side of it. The lights shimmered and stretched, growing and receding, striving and shrinking. One moment the light was a singular thing, a path to heaven and the next moment it was a collection of many armies made of light marching through the sky. All of my thought was gone, focused on the amazing image that will forever remain in my mind.

"Beautiful isn't it? I know you're a little confused right now to why we're here but let me explain. My parents used to bring me here when I was little, you probably can't see this cause it’s so dark but just over that oval is a house. It used to be my house, before the warriors killed my parents. I wanted to bring you here because I don't want you to see me as a monster because I'm not. Our history between the two of us and our families has had too much blood. I was only seven when they died. I still remember the man killing them both. It was a tragedy layed out before my eyes and I couldn't do anything to stop it. I know you don't know me very well but I just want the fighting to end and I know if you open up your heart to me then I can be a good person. You make me a better person. Just give me a chance and if you still love Liam I won't stop you from continuing your old life back with him. I won't fight or cause a scene please just let me have a chance with you."

I was frozen unable to move my lips or any other body part. His story about the warriors came as a surprise. I couldn't believe we would do something like that with such malice. Cole must be wrong, he has to be. I don't know whether to give him a chance. He looks like he genuinely cares for me but I can't just love another man when my heart belongs to Liam. I know it does, however peace would be such a good thing. Maybe I should give him a try....

"Why are you telling me this? I...I've always been you're enemy. You're the alpha of a pack...you should be mean and violent....certainly not sweet and kind." We got out of the car to stare up at the amazing scene above in the sky. The pink light shone down on his face making his teeth florescent when he smiled.

"Not all of us are like that. You've been told stories and lies about us that aren't true. I never wanted this war to begin with, we had a warrior attack one of our wolves and we acted on it. It was out of rage, we can't stop ourselves sometimes." He said sheepishly.

I began to panic, tears were stinging my eyes and i leaned on the front of the car for support.

"Are you trying to tell me my whole life has been a lie? That the warriors aren't who they say they are?" My voice was shaky coming out in raspy tones. He noticed this and began to approach me."No no stay back please I can't think straight when you're near me."

He gave a half smile at this, but he remained where he was when I had asked.

"I'm not sure what they have told you but all I know is that when I look into those beautiful big blue eyes of yours my world stops and everything will be alright as long as you are near me." As he said this he began to crouch down to where I had fallen in the weeds leaning against the car. He was now in front of me looking at me like I was an entire new world.

Outside, the air was cold enough to have teeth to it, but I was warm enough for now. Together in sync we gazed up at the flat black field around us made the sky as big as an ocean. My heart thumped faster, for some reason I couldn't pinpoint. I was suddenly aware that Cole was only centimetres away from me, watching with me, his breaths visible in front of his face.

"This close, it is so hard to believe." I said and my voices caught for some reason on believe, "that it isn't magic."

Cole kissed me.

His kiss landed sort of on the side of my mouth because my face was still turned up but it was a real kiss, not a careful one. I turned towards him with a hunger only he could cure. My lips were hot with the unfamiliar feeling of his and when he touched my arm everything inside of me felt raw. This feeling felt so new and terrifying. So strange and when we kissed it didn't matter that we were enemies or that he was a wolf. All that mattered was our noses touching, the softness of his mouth and the ache inside of me needing more. A tear ran down my cheek knowing I had felt the feeling of being where I belonged.

Hi everyone!

I thought it was about time  I showed all of you the real Cole. It's a bit cute but I want all of your opinion on this question....
