I sang along to Blink 182's "After Midnight" while I get ready for the Halloween Dance. I was going as the Punk Rock Queen. I had on a black dress that went to my knees, a red plaid shirt over it, my combat boots and my guitar, Sam (yes I named my guitar) which I decorated with different logos of bands and my own drawings, slung over my shoulder. Just as I finished doing my hair, I heard the doorbell ring. I opened the door to find Mike dressed as a zombie, Tre as some weird fairy princess thing and Billie was Jack Skellington. I yelled a goodbye to Tommy and Harry as I slammed the door shut and we headed off. Mike wrapped an arm around me as we walked and I put my head on his shoulder. I looked over at Billie, who's head was hanging down. Tre was talking to him but I could tell he wasn't really listening. By the look in his eyes, I could tell he was lost deep into the entrails of his mind. Later on that night, Mike and I were sitting in the back of the gym, holding hands as everyone else in the place got drunk and made out. "School dances aren't the same as they used to be." I said quietly, looking around the room.
"You can say that again. I wonder what happened to Tre and Billie." Mike replied.
"I dunno. I'm going to go find Billie." I said, getting up.
"Okay, I'm gonna go find Tre." Mike answered, also getting up. I left the gym and walked around school to look for Billie. Then I heard guitar music coming from the band room. I got closer to the door to listen.
"We're living in repetition.
Content in the same old shtick again.
Now the routine's turning to contention,
Like a production line going over and over and over, roller coaster." Billie was singing quietly and the guitar was most likely him as well.
"Now I cannot speak, I've lost my voice.
I'm speechless and redundant.
'Cause I love you's not enough.
I'm lost for words.
Choreographed and lack of passion.
Prototypes of what we were.
Went full circle 'til I'm nauseous.
Taken for granted now.
Now I waste it, faked it, ate it, now i hate it.
'Cause I cannot speak, I lost my voice.
I'm speechless and redundant, 'cause I love you's not enough.
I'm lost for words." At this point, he stopped. I looked into the little window on the door to see what happened. He was just scribbling something down. Then he started again.
"Now I cannot speak, I've lost my voice.
I'm speechless and redundant.
'Cause I love you's not enough.
I'm lost for words.
Now I cannot speak, I've lost my voice.
I'm speechless and redundant.
'Cause I love you's not enough.
I'm lost for words." Then he finished. I opened the door quietly, walking over to him. "Why're you in here and not with us?" I asked, startling him.
"I wanted to be alone." He answered simply, not making eye contact with me as he scribbled more words down into his notebook. I was fed up with this moody rockstar façade. He was just putting walls around himself. "Why? Do you hate us now or something? If you have feelings you should ju--" I was cut off by Billie's lips hitting mine. That was a nice way of shutting me up I guess. He wrapped an arm around my waist and my arms went around his neck. He deepened the kiss but pulled away shortly after when he heard footsteps coming from outside the band room.
