Did I just here what I think I just heard? "Excuse me?" I asked Mr Steven. "I said me and my team would like to sponsor you to take part in the AIR." The AIR? The most prestigious and anticipated event in the known world?! "Umm, I don't know what to say." I said dreamily.
It had been my dream to take part in the event, a chance to see the outside world beyond the safety of the mountains that surround San Francisco, a chance to meet new friends that possibly share the same interests as me and a chance to have fun. "Yes! I will..." I was saying when I caught sight of Redric staring at me. Right.
"I mean, I would like to but I got to check with my dad first." Sigh. While it is certainly the right thing to do, Dad will definitely not let me do this, he doesn't even let me go to shopping centres with friends unless my annoying brother comes along. "That's not a problem. Pretty sure being able to join one of the AIR's leading team should convince him." Mr Steven replied. Mr Steven was one of the drivers for TerraTrack, the second best racing team, the first being Team RidgeRider. Nonetheless, it is, or would be, a privilege to race with them.
Mr Steven looked around me to look at Redric. "Is that your friend?" He asked. "Brother." Redric replied. "Ah interesting." Mr Steven spoke with amusement, he probably thinks i'm a freak show now. "Steven!" a bespectacled man came running up to us. "What?" Mr Steven turned to face the newcomer, annoyed at the interruption. "We have got to be going soon, I've been looking all over for......" the man stopped and looked at me," Is this the possible newcomer?" he asked. "Yes." Mr Steven replied. "Just got to talk to his old man first." The man turned to me. "Well nice to meet you, i'm Telcro Shaw, just call me Telcro." He stretched out his hand. "Nice to meet you." I shook his outstretched hand. "Well, lets get a move on then."
We drove back to our little suburb home, Mr Steven's limo drawing a lot of attention. Dad came out of the house shocked at our guests, though he at least allowed them in instead of chasing them off with his shotgun that he kept near the door. While, the adults talk in the kitchen, me, Redric and Charger watched television. Charger watched using a drone, that look like a hovering box with a camera hole, and was hovering just above my lap. We were watching Guardians of the galaxy, a old world movie that was recovered from the ruins of Hollywood. While both me and Redric have never seen the show, Charger appeared to have watched it countless of times. "And this is the part where they turn off the Anti-gravity systems." Charger chirped from a little speaker built into the drone. "SHUSH!" both of me and Redric said. It was at this moment that the adults discussions ended and Charger had to scramble, actually more like fly straight up and stay stuck on the roof, to avoid being seen.
"When you are ready, just give me a call." Mr Steven said to Dad before turning to face me. "Hope to be partners with you little man." "Yeah." I said with a nervous laugh, or is it a embarrassed one. The moment Mr Steven and Telcro were out the door, Dad sighed and sat down on the sofa. He looked at me "Son..." I sighed and cut him off "I know, I know I can't go for this as its too dangerous." He shook his head," No, I would love for you to go out and take part in the AIR." "But I want you to take Redric along." Redric rolled his eyes. "That way," Dad continued "You two can spend more time with each other, learn to understand each other." Redric looked at Dad and said " But I'm busy." Yeah as always. "You know what forget it, Redric won't do it, I don't have to go too." I said much more angrily than I wanted and stormed into the kitchen. Why does Dad think Redric would want to come along, he has plenty of other things to do then care about what I wanted. As I was pouring myself a glass of water, Redric came up behind me. "Hey, its not that I don't want to do this," he started as he grabbed my arm. " I'll do it ok?" "Really?" I spun around to face him, nearly whacking my cheeks against his snout. "As much as I dislike you, we are still family and I love you ok." he said. I smiled. "Besides, who else is going to watch out for you out there." he said with a sneer. We burst out laughing. Redric told Dad his decision and all of us settled down on the couch for movie night as the moon shined high above the mountains.
In Hector's office, a employee reported to Hector. It was extremely worrying that one of their most top secret project have gone missing and finding it has been at utmost importance. However, searches for it have been futile, up to now. "Boss," the employee said as Hector turned to face him, " I think we found it."
