I was from a small farming town about two hours north of Greenville.  It was the closest town of importance.  Everyone knows each other here and we rarely get visitors.  But that changed one day.  A young girl accompanied by a dashing young man appeared one day.   The first time I saw them, him especially, I couldn't take my eyes off of him.  His hair was kind of shaggy,  and his eyes; Oh I could have stared at him for hours.  I worked at the diner in town.  Mostly farmers came in for a break in the morning.  And they didn't talk about much aside from what they knew.  Which was, you guessed it, farming.  And though some of the younger guys weren't bad to look at.  A girl can only hear about cows and crops so much before going bonkers.  The diner was empty and even busy I could handle it by myself.   I stared out the window watching them.  She pointed over to the diner and I quickly pretended to wipe a table.  The girl, she was beautiful, long, blonde hair, bright eyes and hell of a smile.   No wonder they were together.  She walked off in another direction as the guy came toward the diner.  I ran into the bathroom to fix my hair up and put a touch of lip gloss on.  I walked out and he had made himself comfortable in a booth by the windows.  I walked over with a smile on my face.  The heat in my face made turn away for a breath before greeting  him.

"Hi," I said as my voice squeaked, "I'm____ and I'll be taking care of you today."

He looked up at me and smiled.  I think my heart stopped.  Yeah,  I think I just died inside.  He turned toward me and kicked his leg up on the seat.

"Well, hello, ____, I'm Aaron.  I'm here with my friend on business.  I'm starving and she decided to get right to work.  What's good here?"

"You," my voice mumbled dreamily.

"Sorry?"

"You want a drink? S-sorry, long day.  Do you want breakfast or lunch? Or I could get you a drink first."

"What's the best on the drink menu?"

"Not to brag, but I make the best milkshakes in town.   They bring all the boys from the farm."

He stared at me for a moment.  Then he lost it.  His face went red as he could barely contain his laughter.  I blushed knowing it was a bad reference and now I felt stupid.

"Did you just reference that really annoying milkshake song?"

"Sorry, it was a bad joke."

"That was hilarious.  I'll have one of your milkshakes that bring the boys from the farms."

"What flavor?"

"You pick."

I walked off and went to the machine to make his drink.  Inside I was beating myself up.  How could I say something so stupid?  I made his drink and carefully topped it with whipped cream and a cherry.   It was perfect.  I headed back to his table.  I set the milkshake down.  He immediately took a sip and processed the flavor.

"Its very good.  You weren't lying," he smiled.

"Um, thanks.  Do you want me to put some food in for you?"

"I was thinking the turkey club, is it good?"

"I like it.  It's one of my favorite things on the menu."

"I'll have that."

"I'll be right back."

I put a ticket in the window and stood behind the counter.  The girl was still in view.  He was watching her every move.   I was a little jealous.  I headed over to his table.

"You guys passing through?" I asked.

"Not sure," he answered.

"Sorry, I shouldn't be so nosey.  Just a quiet time of day."
