A/N: Hey guys! This story, as I mentioned in the previous update, has a lot to do with the well known string instrument, the violin. I mention certain terms and whatnot that some may not quite understand. I tried to subtly explain as many terms and phrases as I could, but if you have a question about anything I mention, feel free to ask. At the end of this story, I encourage you to read about my inspiration for it, as well as listen to the song it's based around ("Experience" by Ludovico Einaudi). I hope you enjoy the story! Much love <3

Your POV

It'd been four months since Jared broke up with you. The two of you left on rough terms. He asked you to join him on his upcoming tour, but you wanted to go off to music school and study the classical arts. He got angry at you for not putting your relationship first, and once your argument was over, he ended things right then and there. You ended up crying all night, partially because he couldn't understand your goals in life, and partially because he was leaving you behind all of a sudden, over something so minuscule and pointless.

Once Jared left your town officially for his tour, you decided to apply to the music school you wanted to attend to hopefully get him off your mind. You auditioned about a month after your application and found yourself thrilled when you got an acceptance letter a few weeks after. It was finally a chance to move on.

Tonight was the night of your first concert with the school. You'd been practicing for weeks and had finally gotten the solo you'd been working so hard for.

As you put on your concert outfit, an elegant red dress - a color varying from that of the rest of the orchestra to signify that you were the violin soloist - with a rhinestone accent across the top, you begin to worry. Your solo had to be completely memorized, but that wasn't what was getting you anxious. The song you'd be performing a solo for was a piece both you and Jared had always loved. You always cried when you heard the piece, and you were afraid that you might burst into tears on stage.

You combed through your hair one last time before pulling it up into a braided crown across the top of your head and securing it as needed. Once you decided it was perfect, you walked out your front door and into the front seat of your car. Nerves started to fill you from head to toe, but you took in a deep breath and pulled out of the driveway.

You peek out from behind the curtain and see a massive crowd of people, eyes all directed on the orchestra currently warming up on stage. The lights flickered, signaling that the show was beginning, and the first chair violinist prepares to make her appearance on stage. You forgot the fact that the first chair violinist went out well before the soloist, and that he or she would help tune to whole orchestra with just one note. Before she walked out onto the stage, the violinist wished you good luck, and you did the same for her. You watched her walk out onto the stage and bow, then proceeding to play an open A note on her violin, and then sit down. Moments later, the conductor walks out onto the stage, also wishing you good luck before he walks out. He starts the show, and the crowd falls completely silent.

After a few songs have been played, it was your turn to present yourself to the audience. You took in a deep breath and started your approach towards the conductor's podium which you would stand near for your solo. As you walk, you go through the music in your head and remind yourself not to cry. The piano starts the song off, and then the orchestra slowly builds after it. You breathe in, and then your solo begins. You play without thought. Your fingers jump from string to string, and the notes fly off into the audience. Before you know it, the song has ended, and you hadn't let a tear slip on stage. The conduction motions for you to bow, and you do so. You then walk back behind the curtain and start to cry.
