My fists rested on the mirror. Was this person really me? I studied the reflection closely, moving my fists slowly back and forth. The reflection followed my movements.  " You can't be me," I whispered to the frail, bloodshot eyed brunette in the mirror.
"You can't be me," It whispered back.  I shook my head in disbelief. It did the same. I bashed my fits against the glass. It did the same. I let out of scream of rage. Once again, it did the same.
Crying, I turned my back to the mirror and ran my hands through my tangled hair. I presumed my reflection did the same. All I wanted was my happy place back.  I had gone years without it, but a person can go for only so long without a safe place for their mind to rest.

"You are not me!" I shouted, disturbed by the monster before me.
"Oh but we are!" It shouted back. "We are the reason why you love him so much and the reason why it causes you so much pain to hold on..."
I smashed my fists against the mirror sending shards of glass falling down.  "I HATE YOU!" I screamed. The white walls around me fell, revealing the long needed reality. At last I was home.
I stared at my reflection before me in my bathroom mirror. It was the same frail looking brunette as before, with the same tangled curly hair and the same sad eyes. It was me on the outside, but something else inside.
" I just wanted my happy place..." I sniffled weakly as I reached for the bathroom light. " I just wanted peace..."
