The Impala rolls onto Main Street, the motor humming as Sam searches out the passenger window for a motel.
"There's one." Dean says, pointing to a group of small houses off of the road.He pulls into the parking lot and looks at Sam, "alright. Let's go check out the sight of the destruction, and then come back and try this little diner. I bet they have some great burgers that even Death himself would love." Dean says with a smile.
Sam laughs but agrees and they go into the building to check in. After getting themselves a key and taking their weapon-filled duffel bags in, Dean collapses on the bed. Sam falls onto his as well and they both let out a simultaneous sigh. They lay for a few moments before Dean sits up, "let's go Sammy, we need to see that site."
Sam groans but sits up as well. "Alright, let's go then."
Dean lurches off of the bed and picks up the keys, swinging them around his finger as he zips open is bag. Dean pulls out one of his favorite guns and tucks it in his waistband behind his back. He picks up a few knives and stows them away in his pocket.
Sam sits up as well and digs around in his own bag before deciding on a shotgun packed with salt rounds, and a few knives."Ready?" Dean asks, standing by the door.
""Yeah, let's get moving."
Dean walks out, and starts toward the car, but makes a quick right turn.
"Where are you going?" Sam asks, puzzled.
Dean doesn't reply, but opens the door to the motel office. The old woman who had got them their key looks up and gives a wrinkly smile.
"What can I do for you boys?" She asks kindly.
"Yeah, we were wondering where the sight is of that picture in the newspaper article?" Dean asks, leaning against the counter and laying on the charm.
She titters and flashes a old-lady-flirt smile, which is to say, disgusting. Sam ducks his head from the lady's view and sticks a finger in his mouth, a gagging gesture.
Dean keeps smiles, but a less enthusiastic smile now."
"Go north on main and turn left into a dirt drive 5 miles down the road." She states happily."Thank you ma'm that was very kind of you." Dean says with a wink.
She giggles again as Dean and Sam leave to get in the car for the second time.
Once outside, Sam watches Dean gag as he opens the car door.
"That was, what's the word? Impressive?" Sam asks and laughs.
Dean shakes his head and smiles coolly. "Well we got the info didn't we?"
Sam shrugs, "yeah I suppose."Dean nods, starts the car, and peels out of the small
***
"Dean come look at this" Sam calls to his brother, kneeling to peer at a spot that was stained.
Dean kneels next to him, "what is it ?"
A small glob of some kind of substance sits among the blades of grass. Sam reaches down to get a dollop on his finger when he shrieks and yanks his finger back.
"What! What happened?" Dean asks, panicked."It burns." Sam answers, holding up the pad of his finger.
Dean sees that it's bright red. He looks fork, his brothers finger to the weird substance and back, and then moves to stick his own finger in it.
"Don't," Sam advises blocking Dean's hand, "it's not particularly pleasant."
"Hmm." Dean says looking at it. "I'll take your word for it.""Good, because I hoped you weren't stupid enough to do that right after I did it."
Dean scoffs, "shut up Sam, I'm a genius."
Sam shrugs and walks on to inspect more. Dean stands up and looks around, as he swivels his head, the sunlight catches on something sticking part-way out of the ground. He walks over and touches the corner of something made of metal."I've never seen this type of metal before." He murmurs.
"Sam I got something." Dean yells.
"Yeah?" Sam replies, as he walks up beside his brother.
"Help me get this up." He says, grasping the corner and pulling.Sam kneels down next to him and together they pull the square of metal out of the ground. It finally comes out and they lay it down and inspect it.
The square sheet of metal glints in the weaning sunlight. Dean runs his fingers along the strange symbols etched into the bronze metal.
"Do these look.... Greek to you?" He asks Sam.
Sam nods, studying them himself, "take a picture and send it to Bobby. Then let's get going, it's getting late."
"Alright, let's do that." Dean agrees and picks up the plate.Sam follows Dean to the car and they both climb in, as the den finally disappears to the west.
***" I sent it to Bobby, and he just replied and said it's definitely Greek. Something called Celestial Bronze?" Sam says looking up from his phone.
"What's it from though?" Dean asks, flipping through tv channels.
"This is weird, but he said that this kind of piece could be found on a Greek ship called the Argo." Sam replies."Hm, why would a ship be all the way out here?"
"I don't know, why are you asking me?"
Dean shrugs and settles deeper in the couch to sleep."We'll solve it tomorrow Sammy. And we're gonna go to that diner for breakfast, since we missed it tonight ." Dean says sleepily.
"Okay, sounds good." Sam says, but Dean doesn't reply. And Sam hears a soft snore rise from the couch.
"Goodnight Dean."
