As children, we looked to our parents for everything
Guidance
A helping hand
Listening ears
Words to comfort, punish, and advise us
Love and kindness
The utmost example
As children, even if there were those without them,
We still looked up
Up
Up
To someone–Someone Not That Important
To say she changed was an understatement.
"Are those your only reasons, Dan?" She said now. She looked up at the taller male with expectant eyes.
"Well yeah," he rubs the back of his neck shyly. Flush appears on his cheeks. "I-It isn't like any of it's a lie!"
Elizabeta looked down at the ground as if she wishes it would give her a better answer than her friend has. "I don't know," she says. "There is also good, is there not?"
The man raises an eyebrow. He motions for her to continue with the almost gone ice cream in his hand. "I mean there's happiness, right? An expirence like no other. Joy and pride at the accomplishment put into what they produce..... The beauty in their little lives..." She trails off unknowingly. Her stare continues to some unknown place across the park. She ponders over the question that has been planted in her head; a wonder and miracle above all.
"You might be right," Mathias leans back on the bench, turning his face up to the winter sky. "But I don't know if I'd be able to make that kind of commitment, Eliza. It would be something much bigger than me.... To be scared so much repeatedly, to make myself paranoid over nothing...." His gaze turns briefly to the zoned out woman sitting beside him. "Would it be worth it?"
Elizabeta does not hesitate. "Yes. Every single minute of it."
