Carrying a human was a lot harder than Lilian imagined. She struggled with both swimming and keeping the human's head above water, having to stop often just to breathe for herself. Good thing she was alone, hearing how bad an idea this was from her best friend Eliza was not something she wanted to expireince at the moment; but at least the sea was calm. Lilian loved swimming at this time, just before sunrise and with sooth, lapping waves no matter how far she went.
Lilian slowed her pace to a stop. She lifted her face to the sky drinking in big gulps of air. "I...can do...this..." she says to herself. Self-motivation. She can do it! Sandy land was not too far away; Lilian could get there in just a few short minutes. But with the human in tow, who knows how long it could take.
"Ugh..."
Lilian jumps. The human! She looks around frantically. If he wakes up...oh no.
The girl readjusts her grip under his arms. Lilian locked her eyes on the mass ahead of her. Couldn't afford a distraction. Nope.
When she first saw the human, she became mystified by his beauty; shining green eyes brought out by golden hair and such a warming smile. He was laughing at the time, toasting to some great success he masterminded; Lilian only knew it was a toast because as the kings daughter, she had seen so many. He seemed to happy then, flushed cheeks the color of beginning sunset. Lilian couldn't keep her eyes of him. He radiated some mystery she wished desperately to unravel. What is he? What was it that he was so happy celebrating over? Did he travel often? What is his name and where is he from?
Lilian gasped.
Her tail glanced over rock. She looked around, had she reached the land so quickly? A quick flick of her tail told her that, yes, she had. She looked down, finding a warming affection as the human snored, a softness laid on his face. She never knew humans to be so beautiful.
Well, that and the fact she was forbidden to ever talk, speak, think, or look at one.
"Well, human," Lilian said as she dragged him to the sand. Much easier than trying to keep him afloat in the rising and falling water. Thankfully, he only stirred every now often.
"I can't take you to get help. I can only leave you here, human man..." As gently as if he were a baby, Lilian lays his head down softly in the sticking sand. She glances over her shoulder to the water checking that it was far enough that the human wouldn't die. She can't stay for long. Staying all day was not uncommon for her, but she would need to return to the palace--with her being out since night.
Lilian shivers at the unholy light of her brother's eyes, glowering at her as he frowns and lectures her about her "curious adventures." How her curiousity would take her to a place she could not return from; she would be stuck and no one would be around to help her. She habitually went off to unknown place and that worried him. He needed to know where she was going. Blah blah blah. It wasn't like Lilian was some harmless...child! Lilian had been doing that for years, and she would continue until she found what she wanted. No one would stop her; not Francis, not Eliza--no one.
"Wha...ugh. Are...you sear...ching....?" Lilian jumps. The human! He spoke! What should she say? Is he expecting something from her? And, dear god, did she really speak out loud?!
The human winces as he sets himself up on an elbow. Having jumped feet away, Lilian watches in suppressed amazement at how he works. Her gaze travels to his legs. Oh his legs. What is it like to have them? He bends them as he sits up, they move when he does...
Lilian jerks her eyes away and paste them to the sand where her hand grips it. "Who are you?"
Lilian jumps again. His voice is rough, accented, foreign. Not looking at him, she bites her bottom lip in a hard debate on whether it would be safe to answer him or not. "...My name is Lilian. I...I s-saved your life."
