Getting into the lore of things, my friend. I, however, think vampires are very real, as having encountered many. They are not ones to fear, however. Vampires are skittish and mainly nice to humans, most feed on animals. However, those that prefer human blood are weak. Vampires have only existed for a couple hundred years, with no time to strengthen. Anyway, getting back on track, the old lore of vampires is that those who bothered to disguise themselves amongst humans could be found out very easily. Vampires are obsessive compulsive disorder prone, along with wonderful mathematicians. Spill a bag of rice or beans in front of them and they will begin counting them all, and with not stop until a total number has been reached. So, my friends, if your ever attacked by a vampire, run for the kitchen.
