Scarlett was just like everyone else in high school, or at least that's what she thought about herself. To everyone else, Scarlett was a freak. She would never fit in even if she changed every aspect of her high society life style. Scarlett's rich parents put thousands of dollars into trying to make Scarlett normal but it never worked. A new wardrobe wouldn't change her secret, or even hide it. Scarlett was a fallen angel in a society of good, church going people, whether she liked it or not.
The crowds parted as she made er way through the hallway, her black feathered wings scaring most of them out of her way. Everyone of them either had bright white wings or they were just simple normal people. But everyone of them hated her. She heard snide comments about her outfit from girls even though she knew they were just jealous, and she saw boys turning away from her with disgusted looks on their faces.
"Scarlett Shayne." The voice of the principal boomed from behind her. She flinched then turned to face the principle. "My office. Now." she continued.
"Yes Principle Georgia." Scarlett stuttered over her words, and quickly walked behind the principle to her office. When they arrived in her office the principle closed the door softly behind her. "Sit." She said simply. "I'm sorry to inform you that you've been expelled from Gabriel High, Scarlett." Scarlett opened her mouth to say something but instead stared at her principle incredulously.
"What? But how? What have I done to deserve this?" She stuttered trying to find the right question to ask.
"He has chosen not to support you in His school anymore, child. You have one hour to pack your things and be gone." The principle said the last sentence with clipped words, her voice strong and powerful.
"Have my parents been informed?"
"Your parents were called earlier in the day today and they asked that you be sent home at a time of choosing by the school."
Scarlett stood and exited the room swiftly, tears starting to form in her eyes. Why would they do this to her? She swore up and down that her parents wanted her gone out of their lives, and now they didn't even fight to keep her in a regular school system. She went to her locker spinning the lock to the correct numbers to unlock it. She threw her notebooks and pencils into her bag, leaving only a few text books and her Bible in the locker. When she saw the Bible she hesitated, then grabbed it gently setting it in the mess of a bag she had hung on her shoulder. Her tears finally began to fall, leaving wet streaks of saltiness down her cheeks.
She shut her locker and hurried to the front doors, ignoring the looks of the students still left in the hallways.
