You don't have to read this part if you don't want to. It's just me talking with myself here, more or less, so it mightn't be interesting.

Anyhow...

I had started on this project after I found out about NaNoWriMo (about 10 days after it actually launched this year) so I said to myself: why not?

The idea for Shards itself was acquired by me before Summer when I was in France with my school. I had bought a notebook and wrote 3 short pages. Everything is different in the thing written here, so no rules broken!

Shards was supposed to be a bit different. However, the short time I had forced me to be less careful with my wording, hence the lack of any style whatsoever (if I'm not pressed for time I swear I can write a lot better than this).

However, a novel being like a child, I'm proud of what is has grown in to and I'm sad to part with Jurianca (Jurian and Blanca hehe.)

The white cat in the story has quite a lot of symbolism. I know it's pointless adding on symbols (as I, personally, usually criticise too much symbolism in certain novels) but I had wanted to try it. The white cat is a more mysterious and actually a complex 'character' of the novel. One of the reasons is that no character apart from Blanca ever seem to notice it. Whatever you make out of that is up to your own interpretation.

So back to the symbolism of the cat...

The white fur is supposed to mean purity. The cat itself is like a guide to Blanca's death; guardian to the netherworld. The cat doesn't dislike Blanca... it's a cat.

The purple collar is treason.

Red balls danger.

Yellow ball warning.

It's not really necessary to know, but just in case you're curious.

Oh, and I almost forgot! Jurian's name used to be Jurgen... I don't know why I had changed it, but I like the name Jurian, hehehe~
