Remus could tell that the others were planning something. He had cornered Peter after class and asked what they were planning, but Peter let out a small squeak and rushed off. It was the day before the full moon, so Remus was tired and got easily irritated about everything.

He huffed as he decided to skip dinner and go to the dormitory instead. He threw his bag on the floor and pulled out a book to read before he flopped on his bed and loosened his tie.

Soon, after 56 pages, James, Peter and Sirius came into the room, all of them looking nervous. Remus sat up slowly and glanced at them suspiciously.

"What did you do?" He asked.

"We didn't do anything-" Peter exclaimed.

"Well, we did but-" James cut in.

"We didn't do anything bad," Sirius rushed out.

Remus stared at them with wide eyes. "What the bloody hell did you do?"

Now cautious, he started to think of what they possibly could've done and how he would get them out of trouble.

Sirius shuffled his feet nervously. "Well, we've always wanted to help you out with your transformations, but we couldn't think of a way until third year. Ever since then we've been working on a way to help you and over these last holidays, we've worked it out."

Remus' heart thumped. All they wanted to do was help him. He blinked back tears before narrowing his eyes at them. They better have not done something illegal just for him.

"What did you do?" He asked curiously.

"I think it's better if we show you," James replied. "Peter, you first."

Peter screwed up his plump face in concentration. Remus gasped as his body shrunk. Soon, he was replaced with a small rat. Remus looked over at James and Sirius to find that they were already transformed. James had turned into a magnificent stag and Sirius had turned into a shaggy black dog.

"Y-you became animagi for me?" Remus said, forcing words pass the large lump in his throat.

James turned back into his human form. "It's all to help you. We don't care if it's against the law."

Remus sniffed as tears fell from his eyes. Sirius was next to him in an instant and rested his large black paws on his thighs. Remus threw his arms around the dog in an awkward hug, still crying. Sirius turned back into his human form as the two other Marauders joined them.

Soon James and Peter broke away from the hug and went to get some food for him, but Remus still clung to Sirius, not wanting to let go. He wanted to do this, hug Sirius, without hiding his feelings for him but he wasn't going to embarrass himself by confessing his feelings to Sirius and then have his best friend reject him.

"Moony?" Came Sirius' hesitant voice. "Are you okay? You're not mad, are you?"

Remus huffed a wet laugh. "Why would I be mad?"

Sirius shrugged. "I dunno, maybe because we did something illegal?"

"I'm pretty sure half of the things we do are illegal. I would never get mad at you guys for trying to help me," Remus replied, pulling away from the hug to look at Sirius' face. He saw the other's hand twitch but ignored it in favour of looking at his face.

"You get mad at us all the time," Sirius pouted.

"Really? Name one time," Remus challenged. It was silent for a moment.

"When I took your chocolate that one time in third year," Sirius replied.

"Really, Sirius? That's my chocolate. No one touches my chocolate without dying," Remus replied in all seriousness. Sirius narrowed his eyes.

"So if I just . . ." Sirius trailed off, his hand creeping towards the bar of chocolate on Remus' nightstand.

"Don't you dare!" Remus shouted, tackling his friend to the ground. Sirius let out a surprised laugh but fought back, trying in earnest to pin Remus to the floor.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" Came James' voice. They both looked up to see his smirk. "Sweaty bodies rolling around on the floor. Sirius how could you cheat on me? With Moony of all people!"

"Shut up Prongs," Sirius huffed, getting off of Remus with a flush on his face.

The other boy sat up from his position on the floor. "And what's wrong with me, might I ask?"

James pursed his lips and thought for a minute. "Well, you do go absolutely berserk once a month. Other than that, you're just a strange person who organises their sock drawer."

"Hey! I just like finding my socks easily," Remus replied, his freckled face flushing.

"Moony, your other clothes are either on the floor or someone's bed or they're shoved into your trunk. You're a strange person and you should learn to accept that," Sirius said, flopping onto the nearest bed, which happened to belong to Remus and coincidently had a lump of clothes piled at the end of it. Sirius poked the lump with his toe, grimacing.

"Are we talking about Moony's socks?" Came Peter's voice from behind a leaning tower of food.

"Did you leave Wormtail to bring the food up himself?" Remus said, glaring at James. "And we are not talking about my socks anymore."

"I heard grunting so I came up to see what it was. And I never said he couldn't use magic to bring the food up," James shrugged, leaning on a bedpost.

"You know I'm rubbish at Levitating spells," Peter huffed, dumping the food on top of Sirius, who let out an 'oof'. "Sorry Padfoot." Peter said, not sounding very sorry as he took a seat next to him.

"Somehow, I don't believe you're being genuine with that apology," Sirius said dryly, picking up a pumpkin pasty.

"Really? What gave it away?" Peter snarked back. Sirius let out a gasp and leapt into Remus' arms, making him drop the chocolate frog that he had just picked up.

"Moony!" Sirius wailed. "Wormy's being mean to me!"

"I don't know why you're not used to it," Remus huffed, dropping Sirius in a pile on the floor, extracting a laugh from James, who previously had been watching them curiously.

"You're all bullies," Sirius pouted, leaning back on the Remus' legs. Almost automatically, one of Remus' hands came and tangled themselves in Sirius' hair. Neither of them noticed James smirk and Peter.

"So about this whole animagus business," Remus began. "Are we gonna try it out tomorrow?"

"Of course we are!" Peter exclaimed. "We spent months working on becoming animagi."

"Yeah, we've figured it out," James said. "Once you go in, Peter will press the knot on the tree as a rat and the three of us will go in. Then, we'll keep you company."

"You do realise that it's not just a picnic? I'll be all wolfed out so you'd better be in your animagus form when you come in unless you want to be mauled half to death," Remus replied with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah, we know that," Sirius huffed. "But it's all for you, so even if we did get half mauled to death, we wouldn't care."

Remus smiled softly at the back of Sirius' head and gave it a little scratch. Sirius sighed and leaned into the touch, much like a dog would.

The moment was ruined by James who said, "I mean, I would care if you tried to kill me."

The other three boys all threw pillows at him.
