Chapter Two

ARIANA

Why are all these people staring at me? The boy, the girl... Who are they? Why do I feel like I know them... Yet I don't have a clue what their names even are.

My arms flung out and started hitting whatever went in front of them. Another car... I can't die!

The doctor touched my arm with his cold hand.

"It's just a light to check your eyes, it's alright!" the doctor raised his voice with every word, while grabbing my arms, which just scared me more.

The boy swiftly walked up to me with his IV pole wheeling behind him. He grabbed my arms and looked me in the eyes.

"Ariana, it's okay," he said gently, and it was enough to make me stop and look at his eyes.

They were this color... What's it called? Gree? Reen? Een? G..ree...n... Green! They were green!

Yes... So he got me to calm down as the doctor continued to shine that flashlight in my eyes.

When the doctor pulled the flashlight away from my eyes, the boy started to pull away, but I grabbed his arms.

Tingles.

I felt them on my arms, where we held them.

He breathed out a laugh. "So you remember that?"

Wait, what? Remember what?

I crumpled my face in confusion.

The smile fell from his face. His eyebrows furrowed and he let go, turning his back to me.

The smile then fell from my face.

The girl walked up to me and smiled.

She sat on my hospital bed. She pointed her thumb back at the boy. "That's Travis," she then pointed her thumb at herself. "I'm Kristen. You really don't remember us?"

I stared at her, my eyes wide. I'm supposed to know people I just met?

I realized I hadn't answered the question. I shook my head rapidly.

"Okay, okay!" she put her hand on my shoulder, laughing. "I understand!"

She turned to the door. She whipped her head back. "Crap, he left. I'll see you around, kay?"

I nodded, as she walked out of the room.

I was now alone.

I let out a loud sigh and flopped back onto the pillow.

Where are my parents?

Do I even have parents?

Why don't they want to see me?

God...?

I didn't hear a thing.

Not even God would talk to me.

Maybe I need to talk out loud.

"God?!" I called out. "I need to talk to you!"

Nothing.

There was shuffling outside my door, and suddenly two doctors rushed inside, followed by a nurse.

The nurse lightly put her hand on my forehead. "What do you need?"

I closed my eyes and ignored her.

"Ariana?" I opened my eyes. "Why we're you calling me?"

"I was calling God," I let out a breath. "He doesn't want to talk to me."

The nurse breathed and smiled. "God is always wanting to listen to his followers. Remember that it will pretty much be a one-way conversation."

I nodded and looked at the nurse.

"Where are my parents?" I looked at her.

"According to our files," the nurse looked at the papers on her clipboard. "Your parents... Died... Two years ago." the nurse looked really uncomfortable, having to say that to me.

Tears sprung to my eyes. I have...had parents?

And I can't even remember what they look like?

God?!
