He opened the door reviling a series of cameras.
I smiled "Bingo!"
Bubba grabbed my hand, "Teddy will be awfully mad if we go in there."
"He's mad now." I replied coolly.
He looked at me and smiled "Which kind?"
"Both!" I laughed.
We walked in and shut the door. It was a typical office. Security cameras, computers, books (I almost fainted at this point), but then there was a picture that seized my attention. A picture of the band and Teddy. But then there were some others that I didn't recognize. Like a man dressed in black. Black pants, shirt, everything. His face was paler than Teddy, though Teddy looked like he had SOME skin tone in the picture. And another one, dressed exactly like Teddy except he was dressed in a golden suit, much rather than a brown one.
I shook my head and went to the monitors. I turned one on and flipped through the security cameras. I stopped on one labeled 'garage'.
"Why don't we start there?" I asked.
Bubba looked up at me. "What's that?"
"The garage, maybe we can find something in there."
He grabbed a map of the building that was lying on the desk.
"Let's go!" he said and we were off.
A little while later. . . a lot while later. We found yet another door leading to what I assumed and hoped was the garage.
"It won't open!" Bubba said as he jiggled the door handle
I told him to get back and I kicked the door. Again and again. I was weak but from everything I had to put up with for the past day helped. I but my anger, fear, sorrow and what little muscle I had into those kicks. I thought about Teddy and the others, how sad they were when they found out the building was being sold.
Finally the door busted and we walked in.
"I can't see a thing!" Bubba exclaimed.
"Yeah, I know," I said "But we have to keep going."
"I think I found something!"
"What?"
"I think it's an old delivery truck!"
I walked up next to him. Yes, yes indeed he found an old delivery trick. It was white and beaten up, but it looked like it could still be driven.
"I have an idea!" I said.
"I think I know what it is!"
I smiled "Well then, your a lot smarter than I thought."
He smiled back "I'm nine years old! I'm smarter than anybody!"
"What's nine times nine?"
"Twenty-seven!"
I rolled my eyes, "You go distract Teddy while I find the keys."
He nodded and was off. As for me? I was off to the basement.
