*Nicole's pov*

I sat on the window bed hugging my brown bear 'Charlie'. The colorful fall leaves were falling, like it usually does in October.

Hi, I'm Nicole Elizabeth May. I'm 7 years old. I've been here since I was just a baby. Ms. Chantler said someone just left me at there doorstep wrapped up in a blanket in a small open box.

" Nicole!!" My orphan nanny yelled from the hall.

" Yes?" I asked. She came into the room.

" Time for lunch. Hurry and wash up." She told me.

" Yes ma'am." I replied and stood up I sat Charlie down and ran into the hall and to the bathroom. I washed my hand while singing my ABC's. Ms. Cantler taught me and the rest of the kids them when we were 5 and to read. When I was done, I turn the water off and shook my hands to air dry them. I then left the bathroom and went downstairs to the kitchen where the rest of the kids sat.

" Aw cold peas and beef again." The oldest Samantha whined. She always whines. She also gets in trouble a lot.

" Sam hush and eat your food you know if the city or even just the state paid this place more money we would all be eating better. Now pray and appreciate there is food and a roof over your head." Ms Cantler told her. She then nodded and folder her hands together. I sat down and did the same. I prayed thanking god that I do have food on the table and that I do have a place to live in. I also prayed that I would get adopted someday. Hopefully soon. After prayer everyone got down to eating.

There are times where I'm really sad I don't have a mom or a dad anymore. I would cry myself to sleep not knowing what they looked like or what their voices sounded like. But I've never given up on the thought that I wouldn't get adopted someday. I got excited knowing that tomorrow is Adoption day. I finished my food, then washed my dish. After that I went to my room and got right into bed. Couldn't really change into anything at the moment. Tomorrow morning before the Adoption event goes on we all wash out clothes and clean our rooms. As I held onto Charlie I thought about how I could finally have a home tomorrow and parents. Or at least something close to that. Soon enough I found myself falling asleep.
