I mean, literally one day everything was chill, ya know? Everything was normal...

"Kayla, can I use your tablet?"

"For what?" I yell back through my bedroom door knowing what he wants it for.

"To play Candy Crush! What else for?!" Because my youngest brother is a Candy Crush psycho, I have to deal with him every day asking to play. On the other hand I have my other brother Joshua, or the middle child, asking for it for a totally different reason.

"Kayla can I use your tablet?" This is so irritating! Maybe if they were good in school they would have all of the stuff I have.

"No Josh, I'm not giving it to you just to look up some.....stuff involving zombies and the apocalypse!"

I finally hop off my bed to go open the door for him. "Kayla,  I'm trying to tell you, I've seen it on tv and in magazines and on the internet....we're going to have an apocalypse,  and not just any apocalypse,  a zombie apocalypse!"

"Josh, I wish you would stop it!" I yelled. Stop being so paranoid and stop relying on the internet because everything on it is not true."  I was getting so sick of this, I couldn't believe mom hadn't stopped him from talking that nonsense.

"Ok fine, I'll prove it." He grabbed my remote and turned on the tv. Coincidentally, the news was on and a reporter was talking about a lab accident gone wrong in Massachusetts, and a disease or a virus spreading across the east coast of the U.S. She talked of cases of people who caught the virus, died, and came back to life, or some crap like that. But they came back different, as if trying to lunge for you and eat you.

But for some reason, as much as i didn't want to admit it, in the back of my head I knew.....this wasn't just some regular case of cannibalism....

"See, I told you! It's all real, Kay." Josh said reassuringly, and too eerie for my taste.

"'iT's aLL rEaL kAy.' Gimme a break Josh, this is ridiculous!" I grabbed the remote from his hand and immediately turned the tv off.

"It's not ridiculous! It's pure logic! We have to start preparing!"

"Hey! Calm down up there!" our mom yelled from the living room downstairs.

"That stuff in Massachusetts has nothing to do with us. It's not even remotely possible for a disease or whatever, to become widespread and result in a zombie apocalypse. Not. Going. To Happen. Period."

I nugded him and Jake to leave my room and closed the door. I didn't want to accept the fact that Josh, or the news, might be right. Will this virus or whatever it is spread to Richmond, Virginia?

"I need some music", I thought to myself. I grabbed my blue Beats off my dresser and plugged them into my phone.

"All this apocalypse stuff is really starting  to creeping me out."
