I run. Thats all I do. I run and I stop for food. After seven days of running from my home town of Sacramento I reached Beverly Hills. Ive been searching for a fresh start. I reach a gas station and pull out my wallet, $6.34, I walk into the gas station and walk to the back.

I reach the coolers and pull out three cans of Monster Energy drink and grab a bag of Doritos from the front counter and pay.

I leave and put everything in the backpack I took from the Orphanage. I keep running until Im at the Hollywood sign. I sit at a bus stop and wait.

Many cars pass by. No one looks at me, no one notices me except a few babies.

I sit there and wait for a bus until a black Ford Fusion pulls over. The passenger window rolls down and I see a woman about mid 30s and a man about the same age.

"Need a ride?" The woman looks concerned.

"Uhh...I guess so." I know I shouldn't really do that but my feet are killing me and a bus is no where in sight.

I walk up to the backseat of the car and open the door. I slowly sit and buckle my seat belt.

The woman turns around and looks at me. "My name is Claire and this is my husband Charlie." The woman had a Australian accent.

"Cara." I look out my window and back down at my feet. My shoes are worn out and have a hole in them. My poor babies. The sneakers that were once a bright purple were now almost brown.

"Home sweet home." I hear the man named Charlie say calmly I hear an accent on him. British maybe?

The two got out of the car and me along with them, I look up and see a large two story house.

"You live here?" I sound a little shocked.

"Yes. Charlie is a lawyer and Im a teacher. Both pay good money." Claire smiles.

"Oh." Is all I manage to get out.

"Well do you wanna come in?" Charlie asks holding the door open.

"Sure." I walk up three stone steps and walk into the house, beautiful interior, fancy-ish furniture, a chandelier above a spiral staircase. "Wow." I whisper.

"Would you like a shower or something to eat?" Claire asks.

"Yes please." I take off my sneakers and follow Claire upstairs into a medium sized room, the velvet blue sheets on the queen sized bed were neatly laid out with the black pillows and black bed. A black wardrobe was in the corner and the walls were a navy blue. She lead me into a shiny bathroom. A shower, toilet, and sink.

"You can shower in here and be downstairs when your ready and I can cook something for you."

"Thanks."

"No problem."

I walk over to the towel rack next to the shower and grabbed one. I set it in front of the shower and set my clothes on the counter. I turned on the water to a warm temperature and closed the black shower curtain behind me.

-15 minutes later-

I turned the water off and stepped out of the shower to see that my clothes weren't there and there was my purple hair brush sitting on the counter with some hair ties. I brushed through my long raven colored hair and threw it in a pony tail. I dried the tip of it and heard a knock at the door.

"Yes?"

"Cara..its Claire, I found you some clean clothes would you like me leave them here for you?"

"Um yeah thats fine, thank you."

I hear her close the door and I open the bathroom door up and look at the pile of clothes. Black skinny jeans and a green tank top with a black and gray cardigan and gray socks.

I leave the bathroom and start to get changed. Once Im dressed I leave the blue room and walk towards the staircase. I slowly walk down and reach the front door.

"Claire? Charlie?"

"In here!" I hear Charlie's voice and I follow it. I find a large kitchen and Claire at the sink doing dishes and Charlie siting at the table wiping it off.

"Want anything to eat? We have leftovers in the fridge so help yourself." Charlie says pointing to the silver fridge behind Claire.

I walk over and open the doors I see left over pasta and left over pizza. "Can I have a slice of this pizza?"

"Go ahead." Claire smiles, "by the way I put your clothes in the wash machine."

"Well uh thanks." I reply grabbing a slice of pizza. "Thank you guys for stopping for me."

"We thought you could use some help." Charlie smiles.

I bite into the pizza and smile. I haven't tasted actual food in a week.

"So where are you from Cara?" Charlie says leaning back in a chair.

"Sacramento."

"What are you doing in Beverly Hills?" Claire asks?

"Im starting over." I say taking another bite of pizza.

"How old are you?" Claire cocks her head a little.

"17"

"Are you here with anyone?" Charlie looks at me almost in the eyes.

"No. I uh...ran away from an orphanage."

"Oh. Your welcome to stay in the room I showed you for as long as you need." Claire says looking at Charlie, "right Charlie?"

"Of course."

"Thank you for being so kind." I smile.

"Your welcome." Charlie smiles.

"If you need anything we're the second door to the left when you leave your room. You leave make a left and then its the second door." Claire says getting out of a chair and heading to the stairs.

"I'll be down here until 12 watching the television." Charlie says walking to what I assume is a family/living room or a lounge.

I look at the clock on their microwave, 10:27, I make my way to the stairs and see Claire at the top. "Im gonna try to get some sleep, goodnight."

"Good night Cara." They both say.
