Another Encounter (Chapter 3)

Lynn woke up and rubbed her eyes against her wrists. She sat up groggily and saw Carter staring at a Wolf. A giant Wolf. She felt like screeching. Suddenly, Carter flipped his head back around and the 3 just stared. The Wolf stood up and nipped at Carter's hand which he soon opened up to reveal a ring. The wolf brushed his head against Carter's hurt foot and Carter winced. Then Wolf, which Carter decided to name him, started towards  Lynn and rubbed his head where the locket sat, on her chest. A flash of light passed and then there was a giant bald eagle on the Wolf's back. Lynn winced, His talons must hurt his back but Wolf didn't show any sign of pain. He backed up from Lynn and Wolf dissolved into the ring in Carter's hand and the eagle into Lynn's amulet. Then Lynn and Carter just stared at each other. 

"What the hell just happened?" Lynn asked getting up and shifting her weight form foot to foot. 

"I have no clue." Carter said, lost in thought.

Lynn smirked and waved a wing in his face. "Hey, earth to Carter, we survived the night. What an accomplishment!" She said sarcastically. 

"I guess you could say that." He snickered, back down on earth.

"Well, is your foot any better?" Lynn asked.

Carter stood up. "It's better. I wouldn't say it is all dandy because that would be a lie." 

"Aw, you won't lie to me?~" Lynn laughed.

Carter rolled his eyes and scrunched his nose in reply. Eventually, Lynn's eyes wandered to the ring in Carter's open, sweaty palm. She raised a brow. "You gonna wear that?" 

Carter gave her a playful glare. "You gonna give your wings a test flight?" He quickly countered.

Lynn eyes wandered to his neck, not wanting eye contact. "No," ---she replied---"problem."

Carter smirked. "But only if you put that ring on!" She added with a grin.

"F-fine. But you first," he gave in. It would be really cool to see her fly. Carter thought.

And he slipped it on his finger.
