~Map of Switzerland~

9:21 pm

Eliot looked at the map before him, its musty smell slightly tickling his nose. Before him lay the map of Switzerland, the vast country sat on a table top.

"So the plans quite simple as you can see." Bens voice suddenly entered his ears and flooded into his brain.

"We get to the compound, get what we came for and get the hell out." Eliot responded.

Ben nodded, walking around the table to face Eliot.

"And then," Ben paused slightly, "We head north."

11:58pm

'Shhhh'

Moonlight reflected off a nearby pond, its brightness surprising Eliot. Rain had stopped only moments ago. Ben lay hunched next to Eliot, his body pressing against him ever so slightly. Silence once again mixed with the darkness.

"Do you see it yet?" Asked Ben in a shaky voice.

Eliot could almost feel Ben's nerves, the cold not helping the situation. Both Eliot and Ben were shivering in the cold of the night. The black gear that covered their body from head to toe offered little protection from the harsh cold night.

Eliot glanced to where Ben was pointing to. All he could see was silver of a barbwire fence being illuminated by the moon. Beyond that an unmoving shape sat. A faint outline of the mysterious shape gave Eliot the idea of a large and conspicuous shape.

"I think so." Was all Eliot managed to reply through the chattering of his teeth.

Eliot glanced down at the golden plated analogue watch on his wrist. It read 11:59:27pm.

"Thirty seconds." Eliot whispered.

They both stayed in silence, the thirty seconds seeming to drag on forever. Eliot glanced up at the moon, its beauty startling him. The bright moonlight reminded him of his parents, their peaceful smiles, the joy on that shone on their faces, the happiness that always seemed to be in their voices. It brought him back to his early days, to when he was a young child. The days of running away, tearing down Nazi propaganda posters in front of furious Nazi Regime supporters, and getting constantly pummelled by kids who were against his Jewish stand. All the mischief he got up to, he always thought it was for a point. Or, he always wanted it to be for a point.

Eliot smiled briefly.

He longed to see them, his parents, even just one last time, to tell them he was sorry for all the trouble and grief he had caused them in his early years. It was impossible though.

"Now!"

The sudden outburst startled Eliot, shaking him from his thoughts. Ben crossed his line of vision, running for the fence, bulky wire cutters firmly in his grasp. Eliot soon followed suit, struggling to gather his thoughts to focus on the task ahead.

Ben's voice echoed in his head as he ran towards the fence.

'There is one weakness with the electrical fence line used here, the electrical fields around the fence cut out for 5 seconds once a week at midnight while the power serge resets from the main circuit in town, but it has to redistribute.'

He remembered wondering how Ben knew about all this stuff; it almost didn't make sense for a teenage kid to knew so much.

'But 5 seconds isn't long enough,' Eliot remembered arguing, it all sounded like gibberish to him, 'How was we supposed to get in?'

'Well heres the interesting part. It takes 5 seconds for the electricity to reach the power generators situated in the compound, but it takes roughly 23 seconds to redistribute the power evenly throughout the fence. The spot we are going for is the last point where the electricity is distributed. '

Ben got to the fence just as Eliot's watch ticked to 12:00:01. Levelling the wire cutters to his chest almost immediately, Ben started chomping at the fence, causing the wire to clank uncontrollably. Eliot stiffened at the loud noise. His job was to update Ben on how much time they had left to cut and get through the hole Ben was making.
'Speaking of which...'

12:00:07 am

"Sixteen seconds." Eliot said, clenching tightly with his teeth.

"Almost...there..." Replied Ben.

Apart from the loud noises the fence was making, and erie silence surrounded Eliot. By now, he could faintly see a half circle start to take shape. Despite how much he had cut, Ben had to go faster.

'This is gonna be tight.' He thought.

Eliot took another look at his watch.

12:00:13 am

"10 seconds Ben!"

The hole he had cut had now grown to two thirds of a circle. Eliot could see the sweet forming on Ben's brow reflect off the moonlight.

12:00:18 am

By now, a fairly large hole now was centred in the fence. In seeing this, Ben didn't hesitate to dive through. His large figure only just fitting as he landed hard on the ground on the other side of the fence.

Eliot's dive wasn't as graceful.

He ran at the hole and tucked up head into his chest as he dived through. One clenched fist lead his body as he flew through the air. Despite this stunning 'superman' dive, his legs flicked out behind him, one hitting the sharp wire poking out. The wire easily ripped through his black cargo pants and dug into his calf.

Eliot's momentum didn't help.

The little puncture to his skin turned into a deep cut running down his calf as he kept moving forward. It dug itself so far in, Eliot was left hanging by the bloodied wire and his calf.

Eliot let out a yelp. Pain exploded up his leg as he wriggled to try escape the wire. The wriggling only made it worse. Ben came rushing to his side, trying to lift Eliot off the wire.

"Oh heck..." Ben said as Eliot's blood flowed all over his arm, covering it entirely.

Despite Bens efforts to get Eliot off the fence, 7 million volts re-entred the fence's electrical system, completing the circuit and making the wire fence active.

Eliot's world turned into complete turmoil and pain as millions of volts traveled through his body. He shook uncontrollably. With one last effort of escape, Eliot pushed off the fence. The wire finally gave way, pulling away a chuck of bloodied skin.

Eliot landed on the ground next to Ben, blood still gushing out of his leg.

After that, darkness ensured...

And all hope seemed to vanish...
