Ruby's P.O.V
Waiting. That's all I've been doing for a half hour now. Just waiting for the heavenly sound of my phone ringing. What is taking them so long? I twiddle my hair between my fingers and bit down lightly on my bottom lip. I grab my phone and make sure the sound is Turned up. I hope they call soon. I begin to think, maybe I'm not good enough for them, maybe I'm not what they are looking for. Too many second thoughts are racing through my head and I start to loose all composure. The other girls are staring at me, I know they think I'm the under dog, but I don't care. All I care about is getting the part.
*Flashback*
"And don't..." Blah blah blah. Again with the rules. That's all I've been hearing for the past twenty minutes, rules. Don't scream at the boys, don't touch the boys, don't ask for a hug, just do your performance and that's it. So many rules for just five boys and a five minute audition. But I guess that's what happens when you become world famous.
The girls around me start whispering loudly and I turn my attention to where they're looking. There they are, the boys themselves, walking in a line towards us. So many gasps are heard around the room it's laughable.
I watch as they all walk in, hands buried in their pockets, jaws tight, and what seems to be a deadly glare in their eyes. Anyone could see who the glare was directed towards, the man who was telling us the rules just second ago. He walks over to the five lads and says something to them. I see all their shoulders tense but Louis reacts the worst. He jabs his finger at the mans chest and whispers something through clenched teeth before getting dragged back by the others. What was that about?
*Flashback over*
I hear the sound, the beautiful sound, of my phone ringing and suddenly my whole body goes rigid. This is it! This is the call I've been waiting for. I take a deep breath to calm myself before picking up the phone.
"H-hello." I curse myself for stuttering.
"Hey roo!" I hear my best friend's voice ring through the phone.
"Ah! No, no, no I need to get off the phone. They might call any second! I'm sorry I love you bye!" I say quickly into the phone and hang up. I know that was rude of me and i should probably feel bad, but she's my best friend she'll understand.
The phone starts to ring again and I let out a small squeal before picking it up. Before I even get to talk a voice interrupts me.
"I can not believe you just hung u-" she says and I hang up again. I probably shouldn't have. I probably should have told her why I couldn't speak to her at the moment. Next time she calls, and she will call again, I'll explain.
Again I wait, with my back against the wall. I can't stop thinking about my audition that just happened minutes ago. So many girls came out in tears.
*flashback*
I look down the line, taking in the sight of everyone here. Most of the girls looked the same, no one really stood out. I notice a few girls, they look familiar. Their cheeks are puffy and red and their eyes are bloodshot. They are some of the many girls that came out of the room crying. I fiddle with the sleeve of my shirt and look down at my feet. Taking a deep breath I look up. My eyes travel to Louis and I frown. He has a constant frown set on his forehead, bags under his eyes and his lips are pulled into a thin line. I remember when he was the clown, the funny one. He always seemed happy and full of life and now he looked like a walking corpse, only here because he has to be.
"Right, you may all leave now. We will call you if you have made it." Liam says with a smile, making me look away from Louis.
*flashback over*
We will call you if you have made it.
Those words keep running through my head as I wait for the phone to ring again. I look around, so many girls are still here, staring at their phones in anticipation, just like me. Some of the others did leave, they obviously had somewhere else to be.
I hear a phone blare across the room and a girl squeal. My own phone starts to ring as well and I grab it quickly. finally she has called back. Answering my phone, I press it against my ear.
I begin to talk quickly. "I'm so sorry I hung up on you, but I've just been really nervous waiting for them to call me about the audition. I know that's no excuse but that's all I've got at the moment. My brain hasn't been functioning today, I mean you should see the boys, oh god! And Louis, drool! He looked all rugged and handsome. His stubble is ju-"
"Um miss Williams?" A familiar male voice says through the phone. Shit!
"Um yes?" I squeak. I clear my throat and close my eyes. Come on ruby act cool, I know you just told him that you thought he was rugged and handsome but still.
"I'm ringing to tell you that we would be delighted to hire you." He didn't seem to happy about it but I don't care. I've got the job! All those years of hard training weren't a waste after all.
"Thank you so much! I won't let you down!"
"It's fine, goodbye." And with that the line went dead. I hold my breath, trying not to scream, and turn around. Everyone is looking at me, an entire room of eyes are focused on me. A smile breaks out on my face and a few girls return it. I get a few congratulations and a few warm smiles, but one girl has other plans. She rakes her eyes up and down my body before crossing her arms over her chest. I twirl my hair around my finger and look down at my feet.
