4: Disappointment

She saw one thing
and felt her heart flutter
with excitement
at the fact that she had found
one thing so beautiful.

She reached out
she grabbed hold
of this luxury
immediately feeling as free
as a bird.

She never learned
she took more
and more
everything was hers
and hers to be.

The more she saw
the more she took
and felt the disappointment
flow through
like a looming shadow.

For she has taken too much
that every beautiful thing
in this beautiful world
had lost its transfixing power
its mesmerising beauty.

She felt the world collapse
as everything became
devoid of colour
of life
and was as useless as a scribbled page.

Of the messy words from a poet.
