Chapter 26

Chapter 26 Chris's POV

"Hello Mrs.Parker. Drew had an..accident she's at the hospital with me, okay I will bye," I say into the phone. "What did she say?," Cole asks. "She wants me to call her back when they say if she's going to be okay or not," I say. The doctor walks into the room. "Oh my lord what happened here?," he says. "She fell and hit her head on a brick," I say. The doctor takes the bandage off. "Well head wounds do bleed more. She won't need stitches," he says. "Oh good," I say with relief. "Did she pass out?," the doctor asks. "Yes," I say. "Oh that's not good," he says. He looks at her eyes and takes her pulse. "She should wake up soon. She will only be a little dizzy. If she feels any pain just give her some pain killers, I'm putting something that should numb it for a while on it," he says. "Okay thanks," I say. The doctor leaves. "Oh Drew," I say and walk over to her. Then I remember Cole is still here. Drew starts waking up. I hold her hand.

Drew's POV

I wake up and see bright lights and Chris's face. I feel a pillow under my head, a hard table under me, a weird feeling on my head, and Chris's hand around mine. "Am I dead?," I ask. "Drew!," Chris says and hugs me. "Oh and you're not dead you're in the hospital," he says. "Why am I in the...oh yeah," I say. Cole. Cole was at my house. After everything I went through he had the nerve to come to my house. What he didn't know was after he ran away that day, I thought about it and I was going to say yes. But I never got that chance. After that day I thought about him differently. "Drew! I'm sorry Drew! I'm so sorry," Cole says. Oh no he's here. How did he get here? Why was he here? Cole walks up beside me. "Cole?," I say. "I came to apologise," Cole says. The last time I saw him was three days after he asked me out. I stopped talking to him after that. We didn't have any classes together. He got even cuter. He grew his hair out and he got a lot taller. "Well we can go now," Chris says after I stare at Cole for a while. I slide off the table and fall down. Chris catches me before I hit the ground. "Oh yeah you might be dizzy for a while," Chris says. He picks me up and carries me to the car. I sleep in the car on the way home.

Chris's POV

I call Drew's aunt on the way home. We get to her house and I pick Drew up and carry her to her bed. Cole follows me. What did this kid want? "Um you should probably go home now. Where do you live?," I say. "Next door," Cole says. Fuck my life. Cole leaves and I make Drew food. I figure she would want simple food because she's still dizzy. I don't want to make her throw up. I decide to make mac and cheese for both of us. When it's done I start carrying both bowls to her room. When I turn to the hallway to her room Austin is there. "Ah! Dude don't scare me like that, where's Drew anyway?," Austin says. "Oh you don't know yet. Come here," I say. We go to Drews room and I sit on her bed. "Oh my gosh what happened?," Austin asks. "Do you know someone named Cole?," I ask. "Oh Cole. Yes. When I went to Drew's birthday parties when we were little he was there. I don't like him. What does he have to do with anything?," Austin says. "Well when we got home he was on her porch. When she saw him she passed out and hit her head on a brick. Cole went to the hospital with us and he just left," I say. "Oh lord why was he here?," Austin says. "He lives next door now he wanted to apologise," I say. "I swear I'm going to kill that kid. He's the one that messed her up," Austin says. "I know he yelled at me when I said I was her boyfriend," I say. "Well I'm going to go talk to him," Austin says as he makes air quotes around talk. "Good luck," I say as he walks out. I kiss Drew's cheek and she wakes up. "Here you need to eat," I say and hand her a bowl. She sits up and takes the bowl. "Did Cole leave?," she asks. "Yeah," I say. "Oh good. I don't know why he came back," she says. "Um but..," I start. "Oh no what now?," she says. "He lives next door," I say. She looks at me with wide eyes. "Its going to be okay," I say and kiss her cheek. "Thats what you think you don't know Cole," she says. "If he messes with you I'll take care of him," I say. "Okay that's a little better," she says. We finish our food and I take the bowls back to the kitchen. Drew follows me. "Feeling better?," I ask. Drew nods. "Better enough to go for a walk?," I ask. "Yeah," Drew says and smiles.

Cole's POV

Who does he think he is telling me to go home. I'll go home whenever I want to. I see them running to the park holding hands. That should be me. I hop off my deck and follow them. They go to the park and through the woods. Chris helps Drew up a tree and they sit on the branches. I walk under them and listen. "I love you Drew," Chris says. "I love you too Chris," Drew says. Chris kisses Drew. I feel like I might explode. She was supposed to have her first kiss with me! Now she wasted it on him. I have to try my hardest not to say anything. "What is it?," Chris asks. Drew sighs.
