Three weeks later

A week after the final blind audition session concluded, I got a call from the producers that it was time for me to move into the hotel that was near the studio. Lucky for me, both the studio and the hotel were in Cardiff, so it wasn't that long of a drive. Once I had gotten all my stuff packed up, my dad drove me to the hotel. "If anything goes wrong, call me, alright?" he asked as he drove. "I will. Don't worry, dad. I'm going to be fine. It's like you said after the blinds. Boy George is a really good coach," I said. "You're right. I'm getting myself worked up over nothing," he said as he parked and got my bags out of the back. And sure enough, George was waiting for us at the entrance. "Hello, darling," he said as we hugged. "Hey. So, is anyone else here yet?" I asked. "Yes, but not many. You're one of the first acts to arrive. There are two other acts here already, one of which is your roommate," he said. "Cool," I paused as I turned to my dad and gave him a hug. "Don't worry. I'm going to be fine," I said. "I know. I'm so proud of you, Emily. Good luck," he said. "Thanks," I said as he left. Then, I turned back to George. "So, shall we go in?" I asked. "Yes, let's do that. Can I help you carry anything?" he asked. "Yes, that would be great," I said as I handed him one of my bags. Then, I followed George inside and up to my room. "Here we are. Room 213. This is going to be your room for the battles and the knockouts. If you make it to the live shows, you'll get your own individual room. But this is where you're going to be for the next few weeks," he said. "Cool. Thanks for showing me up here," I said. "No problem. By the way, we're having a team meeting in my room once everyone gets settled in. It's in room 221. I'll let you guys know when to come down," he said. "Okay. I guess I'll see you then," I said. Once George left, I knocked on the door. "The door's open. Come on in," said a voice. And when I did so, I saw a woman who I assumed to be my roommate. She smiled as she walked over to me. "Hi! I'm Rebecca Moss. You're Emily, right?" asked Rebecca. "Yeah. It's nice to meet you," I said. "You, too. I seriously can't believe that I actually got three chairs to turn for me at the blinds," she said. "I got three chairs, too! Who turned for you?" I asked. "George, of course, will.i.am, and Paloma. What about you?" she asked. "George, Paloma, and Ricky," I said. "Wow! That's great! By the way, do you need any help unpacking?" she asked. "Yeah, that would be great," I said.

Once Rebecca and I had gotten all of our stuff unpacked, we were sitting on our two beds and watching one of my favorite movies, Kingsman: The Secret Service. "So, what was your audition song?" she asked. "I did a classical version of "The Devil Within" by Digital Daggers. What about you?" I asked. "I did Francine Quinn's cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody"," she said. "I love that version! So, I think it's safe for me to assume that you saw Suicide Squad, too," I said. "Oh, absolutely! The critics were so wrong, though! It was amazing!" she exclaimed. "I know! Critics can be such jerks, sometimes," I said. "Agreed. So, I heard that you were originally from America. What part?" she asked. "I was from Washington, D.C.," I said. "America's capital? Cool! I'm from Essex. You live in Cardiff with your adoptive father now, right?" she asked. "Yeah. George told you about me, didn't he?" I asked. "Yeah. And he told me about what happened between you and your birth parents. I am so sorry. If you need a shoulder to cry on, I'm here for you," said Rebecca. "Thanks, Becca. Is it alright if I call you that?" I asked. "Yeah, sure. Can I call you Em?" she asked. "Sure. I've always liked that nickname," I said. "I've got a feeling we're going to be great friends, Em," she said. "Agreed," I said as we continued to watch the movie.

Just as we finished watching Kingsman, I heard Becca's phone get a text alert. "It's from George. He says that the team meeting is starting in a couple of minutes. Let's go ahead and head down," she said. "Yeah, let's go," I said as we got our stuff and headed over to George's room. I couldn't wait to meet the rest of the team!
