When I'm alone, I think.
When I think, I remember.
When I remember, I feel pain.
When I feel pain, I cry.
When I cry, I can't stop.
---------------------------------------------Kayleigh's POV
I felt my knees go weak, and Timothy hugged me.
"We did it." He whispered.
I felt tears streaming down my face as Timothy led me out of the courtroom.
Hettie ran to me, arms outstretched.
"Oh Hettie." I said, hugging her tightly.
"You're free Kay." She whispered.
Timothy hugged me again.
Jennie stepped in front of me, and I smiled and hugged her.
"I'm sorry I had to act like a bad person." Jennie said. "But I'm glad you could win the case. I know what it feels like to be in a marriage like that." She said.
"Thanks Jennie." I whispered.
Timothy smiled and opened the car door for us.
Hettie and I got in back, while Jennie joined Timothy in the front.
"So what's next for you?" Jennie asked me.
I smiled. "Well, I'm going to get restraining orders against my parents and Jack." I said. "And then, I'll continue on as Timothy and Hettie's nanny."
Hettie smiled. "Ruth is going to be so happy." She said.
I laughed. "She will be." I said.
Timothy was quiet.
"Timothy? What's wrong?" I asked.
Timothy shook his head. "Just something I learned about." He said.
I looked at him. "It's about her, isn't it?" I asked, hoping I was wrong.
Timothy took a deep breath, then sighed. "Yeah." He admitted.
I closed my eyes for a minute. "What happened?" I asked.
"Kay, you don't want to know." Timothy said.
"I have to." I insisted.
Timothy sighed and parked the car in the driveway. "Her body was found in a house. Apparently, her father found her." He said.
"No." I whispered. "No." I said again, tears starting to fall.
"Kayleigh, I'm sorry. I wish we could have helped her." He said.
"We should have made her stay close. We should have gotten evidence." I said.
Timothy sighed. "Kay, there was nothing we could have done. She loved you, and you know that." He said.
I wiped my tears away and nodded. "She was too young." I whispered.
Timothy nodded grimly. "All of them are." He said.
I took a deep breath. "Well, we need to go inside and tell my news." I said.
"We should tell Sean." Hettie said.
My eyes widened. "But, he's too little to understand! Besides, he thinks-"
Timothy cut me off. "Kay, he should know the truth. And so should Tatum." He said.
I looked at Jennie, who shrugged. "I'd say this is up to you." She said.
I sighed. "Ok." I whispered.
Hettie smiled, then hugged me. "Come on, we have good news!" She said.
I laughed nervously, and followed Hettie inside.
After telling Momma Ruth about what happened, I sat down on the couch by Sean.
Hettie and Timothy sat on the other side of him.
"Hey Sean?" Hettie asked.
"What?" Sean asked.
"Sweetie, you knew how we talked about how I'm not your real mommy?" Hettie asked.
"Yes. And Daddy isn't my real daddy. But my and Tatum's daddy don't love us, so Daddy is our daddy." Sean said.
Hettie nodded. "But your mother loves you, right?" She asked.
"You said Momma loves me, but she couldn't come get me yet." Sean said.
"But now she can." Hettie said.
"What?" Sean asked.
I looked at the little boy. "Sean, I'm your momma." I said.
