Chapter two
*Zara*
Things had become significantly easier since Hayden started meeting up with me, yet I still felt bad, because surely this was putting more pressure on his shoulders too. "Hayden, are you sure you're okay with me talking you all the time, because I'm pretty sure that dumping all my problems on you will eventually start affecting you too."
He shrugged. "Zara, I wouldn't have asked you if I didn't want to help. Besides, I have a ton of other people I can talk to about my other shit. Honestly, it's fine."
"Well, thank you" I said, sighing and sitting back against the wall. "I have to go to a restaurant tonight for one of Charlotte and Luke's dates. I don't see why they insist on dragging me everywhere."
"Maybe Charlotte just wants you there in case something bad happens" he replied, taking a sip of his iced tea. "Want some?"
I frowned, taking the outstretched bottle he was offering and drinking from it. "I'm surprised no one's found me yet. I've been gone for at least half an hour now."
Hayden laughed. "You really are something, Zara."
"Zara, what are you doing here?! Everyone's looking for you!" Noah yelled, running up to us. "Carter broke up with Everett!"
I rolled my eyes. "Carter breaks up with Everett every other week. Besides, what do you want me to do about it?"
"Go talk to him. You're the only one he listens to" Noah said.
"I'll talk to him, but I can't promise that they'll get together. Everett probably deserved everything Carter gave him" I said, standing up.
"Oh, did you want to come to the amusement park tonight? Ezra and I are going" he asked.
I sighed, rubbing my face. "Yeah, sure. Whatever."
Hayden stood up, reminding me that he was there. "You're going out with Charlotte and Luke tonight."
I nodded. "Oh yeah, can we go to the amusement park tomorrow?"
"Sure, we can do that, just let me talk to Ezra first" he replied, smiling. "Wait, why does Hayden know you're going out with Charlotte and Luke? Why are you guys even hanging out?"
I sighed. "Hayden's my friend. Now, are we going to go get Carter or not? I'll see you around, Hayden."

"So you broke up with him because?" I asked, sitting down next to Carter who was sitting against a tree.
"He kissed the new girl, Lara" he said, crying.
"Aw, babe" I said, wrapping my arm around his shoulders. "You know what we need to do?"
"What?" He asked, resting his head on my shoulder.
"We need to kiss" I told him, looking down at his confused face. "It'll make him jealous, and realise how you actually feel when he does stupid shit. I'm up for it, but only if you're comfortable doing it."
"Of course I'm comfortable with it" he said, sitting up properly. "But you'd feel comfortable doing it?"
I grinned. "I've heard that you're a great kisser. Anyway, let me message Noah, he'll bring Everett down to see us kiss."
When Noah messaged me back, informing me that they were on the oval in front of us, it was sprinkling with rain. I pulled down Carter's face, curling my hand around his neck, pressing my lips to his, smiling when he smiled against mine. He kissed back gently, his lips soft and sweet, and he lightly gripped my chin.
