For the rest of the day, I avoided Ryder like a plague. It was going great until he stopped me in the hallway on my way to physics. I tried going around him, but he wouldn't let me. "Are you still up for our plans today?" I was about to respond when I remembered Janet's aggravating voice in my head. "Uh, actually Ryder I have lots of homework so I'm just gonna stay home and do it." I mumbled. "Is everything all right?" He asked me worryingly. "Yeah, everything's all right." I said a little too harshly. Ryder eyed me suspiciously. I started to feel a little uncomfortable as I felt Ryder eyes on my head, like if he read my mind. "Well gotta go, see ya around." I said, than walked away. Phew! That was to close. The rest of my class seemed to drag on. After multiple tries to keep myself awake, the bell rang, dismissing us. I grabbed my bag quickly and rushed out hoping to avoid Ryder. I speed walked to the exit doors, but just as I opened the doors, I heard a voice behind me say, "Wait up, Faith!" I turned slowly hoping it wasn't Ryder. Luckily, it was just Monica. I smiled. "What's up Monica?" "Well, nothing much except Anthony Baker just asked me out!" Just so you guys know Anthony Baker was one of Ryder's friend from the football team.( Yeah, I know, Ryder plays football) I smiled again, "that's great Monica!" "Thanks, it was during English he passed me a note that said: Will u go out with me check yes or no." Monica kept on rambling on as we exited the school doors. I tried to pay attention to my friend, but I couldn't stop thinking about what Janet said, she was actually willing to blackmail me! I sighed. Monica stopped talking and looked at me." Is everything all right?" I actually wanted to confess everything from me being a vampire to Janet blackmailing me. But before I could say anything, I stopped myself. "Yeah everything's okay." I said, managing a small smile. "Are you sure?" You're being really quiet." "Yeah, I'm fine, I'm just not a talkative person." I said."Oh." Was all she said. After that we walked home in silence. When we got to my house, I said "Well, this is my stop, see you tommorow." "Okay, bye." Monica waved as she crossed the street to keep on walking to her house. I sighed and walked into mine. It was quiet, until I heard voices in the living room. "Mom?" I called out. Silence. Suddenly, "Faith! Over here!" I followed my mom's voice to the living room. When I got there I saw her talking to my Uncle Edward. Salem was there too, sitting quietly. "Hey." I said awkwardly. Uncle Edward was the type of guy who was always serious, and kept track of all the vampires which was only our family. And a few other relatives too.We were the only vampires in New Orleans. Uncle Edward had pale blond hair, a cross between redish and blue eyes, kind of a tan, (Don't ask me how) and he always wore a suit. I immediately knew something was wrong. I saw tears streaming down my mom's face. "What's going on?" I asked calmly. " Faith, he paused, "Aunt Patrica passed away yesterday." My heart stopped. I was silent for a moment, holding back tears, wanting to be strong my mom. "Um could you excuse me for a second?" I said  tremulous. I ran up to my room and started crying. Aunt Patricia was like a second mom to me. When I was little my dad died because he was killed by a vampire Hunter. After he passed away, Aunt Patricia, came to stay with us, supporting and helping my mom. Salem was only 3 years old at that time.  Aunt Patricia basically did everything from cleaning to taking us to school, while my mom got back on her feet. Aunt Patricia was always there for me when I had problems, I came to her and we would drink tea and I would tell her about all the problems I had. And she would sit there quietly, just listening. Your probably thinking, Why didn't I talk to my mom about my problems? Well, the thing is that my mom starts worrying and bugging me about that problem. So now that Aunt Patricia is gone, who do I tell my problems to? I laid in bed crying and thinking when I heard my doornob open."Mom?" I called out. It was Salem.  I sighed what do you want?" I asked him. I wasn't in the mood for him to prank me or try to use his vampire powers on me."Um, I'm also sad that Aunt Patricia passed away." He said sadly. Let me tell you something about Salem, he is 14 years old, he has blue eyes, and brown hair. He has most of my dad's features before he past away. I never really knew my dad most of my memories from him are mostly a blur. Salem is the  the type of brother who is always annoying you and getting on your nerves. So it was a surprise that Salem was actually being serious. Salem and Aunt Patricia were close too. Aunt Patricia would hang out with Salem while I was at home being tutored by this guy. They would got to parks, play games and eat ice cream too, and many other things. I'm not surprised that Salem would miss her. "Me too." I finally replied. He looked up and smiled sadly at me. I walked over him and gave him a hug. He was taken back at first, than he returned my hug. We hugged for a while, then he said, "Your actually not a really bad sister." We laughed. Sometimes it's good to have a little brother.
