Nolan's ears popped up right away, he started looking around and then he saw something, he stared at something behind me and started turning towards it. I guess that he is fascinated by a bike. As he pulls me in the direction that we just came from, I see her right when I take a step. Her bike skids to a stop and I see exactly what she looks like. She has luxurious, dirty blonde hair that went down to the middle of her back when it was in a simple, yet fabulous braid. Although her best feature, those sparkly hazel eyes; one look at her and you could recognize her from a mile away.
"Um hi. My name is Nate and this is my dog Nolan." Nolan starts sniffing her shoes and eventually looks up at her and starts panting. "You can pet him if you want." As her hand slides down the back of his head and then comes back up to the top of his head again I start scanning her. She looks about my age and height. I notice that she is wearing white sneakers; the cleanest white sneakers I have ever seen, they look like they just came out of the box. Her legs are thin and her shorts are short but not too short. She is wearing a t-shirt with the sleeves rolled up.
"I like him. His hair is nice and soft. So, did you just move in Nate?" She says looking up at me.
"Well kind of. But not exactly what you would be thinking." I say looking at Nolan. I can feel her eyes looking at me now but I continue to watch Nolan. I didn't want her to look at me today, I just went through a tradgety and I'm not dressed very well. I had basketball shoes on with ankle socks, a red pair of basketball shorts on that just barely past my knees and a plain white t-shirt on. "I am living with my cousin Brandon for a few weeks while my dad away." I couldn't tell her what actually happened, I didn't want sympathy.
"Oh Brandon? He's in my grade. Yea, okay. So, is this your first time at his house?" Well, if Beccy is in Brandon's grade I know that she is one year younger than me, but my guess wasn't far off.
"Well I came here before for Birthday's and Holidays but that's about it."
"Once you get settled in, how about I show you around. There is this amazing ice cream shop right around the corner called Sprinkle Town. Yea, I know, weird name but they make great ice cream." My thought was strange Show me around, I don't care where we go as long as I'm with you. But, of course I didn't say that, I would scare her so much; even though it was so true.
"Okay that would be great. Um, what house do you live in. I'll stop by tomorrow." I was staring at her eyes now, I caught myself when I was done and quickly looked at Nolan.
"Actually I live a few blocks over. How about I come to where your staying around one?"
"Okay that sounds great." I started walking back home as she rode her bike in the other direction. As she rode by we smiled at each other and I couldn't help myself looking at her eyes.
I walked in the house and Brandon comes down the stairs, "Hey dude, what took you so long? My mom has already set aside part of my room for you."
"Oh, um I was walking Nolan and I met one of your friends from school. Beccy." I took Nolan off his leash as wrapped it in my hand.
"Beccy?" He paused. "Oh, Beccy with the white sneakers Beccy?" I gave him a puzzled look.
"That's how you recognize her? By her sneakers?"
"Well of course" says Brandon, "Her sneakers are the whitest and they stay that way." He says as he smiles. He pats my back and starts guiding me to the kitchen.
I start thinking of my date with Beccy. "How good is Sprinkle Town's ice cream?" He quickly turns around.
"Only the best ice cream ever! Wait, why? How do you know about Sprinkle Town? Did she ask you to go there with you?" He starts shooting me questions that I can barely think.
I quickly rethink all the questions that he asked. "Beccy told me about Sprinkle Town and wants to take me there tomorrow. Why are you so worked up about it?"
"Only because Beccy is like the hottest girl in my grade! But dude, no way! Do you lllikkkeeee her?" He looked really happy, and he had a smile on his face, I think that's the first time that I even saw him happy, let alone smile and exited about.
"I can't answer that. How can you like someone that you saw for like 5 minutes. And why are you so happy? I bet you like her." I quickly shot at him.
What a lie. I would do anything to go out with Beccy. I still couldn't stop thinking about her eyes.
"Well yea, I guess I do like her. Do you mind if I tag along?" My cousin wanting to hang out with me, wow... I guess that he really has changed. But I lie yet again.
"Nahh, I don't mind and you know her better than me, so if you don't think that she will mind you can come." Now why would I want him to come along, it just gives her a reason not to get to know me.
"Great! Get me when she's here." And he quickly went upstairs. I could tell that he didn't care if she would mind if he came or not. He just liked her, just like I do, and probably every other boy in the grade if she truely is the hottest girl in his grade.
