The night passed quickly and morning came, they were on their way to the hospital where Adam's friend lurked.

"I'm really sorry for snapping at you earlier." Adam quietly spoke.

"No, no, I get it. It's none of my business. It's a personal thing and I understand you're upset about it. I'm sorry, too." Evette replied.

"No need to say sorry."

"Okay."

"We're finally here."

They entered the hospital and went to look for Frederik, an old friend, the old man whom he saw on the tube one night, who might just help Evette remove her Eye and maybe, just maybe, give them answers.

"Adam! Long time, no see! Oh, who is this stunning girl?" Frederik patted Adam's back, in his other hand, an illustrated book in another Germanic language. He shook Evette's hand and introduced himself in this thick accent. They were all together in an empty room with only two hospital beds.

"Fred, this human sees ghosts like us," Adam said. "What can she do to control or remove her Eye?"

"Control? Remove? I'm afraid that's not possible. I'd say she just needs to stay away from hospitals to avoid seeing anymore ghosts." Frederik said.

"Seriously?" Evette sighed, disappointed.

"Really." Frederik replied, almost feeling bad for the girl.

"Let's just go around this place then. It's okay Evette. I'm sorry." Adam took her hand. "Thanks Fred."

"I'm sorry. Really not much I can do."

Adam and Evette scanned some of the hospital rooms, not following Frederik's word. They saw struggling people, holding onto the thinnest thread of life on Earth. During the tour, both only felt one emotion, sadness, a little of sympathy perhaps but in a certain room, 311, it changed into shock.

"Is that you on the bed? It looks like you! Evette, answer me." The boy's voice was trembling. He could not believe it. Even she, did not.

"I-," She did not know what to say, "I don't know. I really don't."

"But that's you! Look, just look!" Adam scurried to the side of the bed, holding the unconscious girl's hand. "It's you!" He tried to look into her eyes but she just backed away.

"Frederik has to know!"

"What?" She snapped. "What are you doing?"

Adam went on to fetch Frederik who was a few floors down.

"Fred! Evette's body is in here! In the hospital! She's not human."

"What do you mean? You're not making any sense."

"Let's go!"

They were all in room 311 by now. "What should I do?" Evette asked, confused as ever. Frederik looked at the two girls closely, and concluded the same thing Adam said. The girl he shook hands with earlier, was not human, but a lost soul.

"There's only one explanation," Frederik looked at the two teenagers in all seriousness before continuing, "that girl, on the bed, is your body, and you, my friend, is the soul."

The younger ghost, and the girl, rather, the girl's soul, looked at each other, both unsure of what to feel, of what to make of this madness now that Frederik has confirmed their thoughts.

"Now, you have a choice. Go back," the wise ghost looked at the girl on the bed, "live again on Earth, or continue as you are."

The girl's lost soul did not know what to do. She just wanted to get eaten up by the Earth and not make this life-changing decision.

If she were to leave, and live, again, she would leave Adam behind who she has already cherished in her heart, but she would be able to live the life she forgot, start anew. She cannot just leave her body to rot, can't she?

Adam was thinking the exact same thing. Although the difference was, he knew what she must do, even if it hurt.

"Go back." He blurted out, tears were forming in his eyes. There was no doubt he would be alone again, with only the older, wiser Frederik to visit on some days.

"What?" She had trouble speaking, her tears went down quicker.

"You know what I mean." It was hard to say for Adam. It was also hard for Sir Frederik to watch the two young ones cry. Seldom did he feel such pain.

"No, I can't." She can't leave, that she knew.

"But you must." Adam insisted. She also knew she must go.

"I'm so sorry." The pair hugged for quite a long time. Sir Fred almost cried too, but he had no tissue with him.

Adam had the courage to stand up first and lead Evette to her body, but had no courage to think about what would happen after she leaves.

"Frederik, thank you." They shook hands once more.

"It was my pleasure, Miss Evette, but it breaks me to see you like this."

"It's the right thing to do." She replies, smiling to him. She turns to Adam for the last time.

"Adam, I'm sorry but I want you to know that I'm extremely grateful to have met you. I'll never forget you. Ever. I promise."

"Thank you, Evette. I really thank you." He kissed the top of her head. "I want you to be successful in your life also. Have fun, and keep on being cheerful and just, honestly, thank you so much for everything." He wiped his tears away as he let her go.

"Thank you, too." She flashed a sad smile before sitting down on the bed and laying on her body. Then the transition was made. A bright light shone, blinding both Adam and Frederik.

Her fingertips moved and her heartbeat on the monitor was much faster. She was alive again.
