Jamie:

I knocked on the door uneasily, my heart banging in my chest as I gave myself a pep talk.

Alright Jamie, she's giving you a chance. Don't fuck this up. What's the goal for today? To be friends with her again. Friends. There will be absolutely no kissing, and definitely no-

"Jamie?" Rox's voice rang out of nowhere.

I jumped back, and proceeded to trip and land on my ass.

Well that's a great way to start this off.

"Jamie, are you okay?" Rox said, trying to keep her laughter in.

I took in her body, her perfectly curly hair, shiny lip gloss, and flawless curves. May I add that she had leggings on?

Yep. This was definetly going to be hard.

"Jay? I asked if you were okay," she said, snapping me out of my daze.

"I'm fine, you can laugh."

That was all she needed to start rolling on the floor laughing, literally. I stepped into her house and helped her up with a playful glare.

I walked with her to her room, as I had done thousands of times before, taking in her lavender colored walls for the umpteenth time. Everything about it screamed "Rox." Band posters on the walls, dozens of books on her book shelf, tons of horror movies next to her television, which I'm pretty sure we watched all of.

I usually sit on her bed, but this time- for obvious reasons, I sat on her desk chair across from it.

She immidiatly noticed this, and gave me a pitying look. "Jay, don't make things awkward, you can sit here," Rox said, patting the space next to her.

Shit. How would I be able to resist her?

"Um, are you sure?"

"Positive."

Dammit.

"Fine," I sighed, sitting as far away from her as possible.

"Sooooo..."

Awkward silence.

"Soooooo..."

"Um, I'm really sorry about... you know.  It was completely uncalled for," I admitted, and I meant it. I must have put her in such an uncomfortable situation.

"It's all good, Jay, in fact, that's what I wanted to-"

But I wasn't finished. I needed to fix this before it got worse.

"Wait, listen, I think we should just act like this never happened, okay? That way, we can go back to normal, and nothing will be awkward. What do you think?" The words tumbled out of my mouth, foul tasting, but I couldn't take them back, it was for the best.

"Oh," she said, surprise laced in her voice. "Is that what you want?"

No.

"Yeah."

"Um, all...Alright then...

I stood up awkwardly. "So, I guess I should go then?" I looked at her with pleading eyes, silently asking her to give me a chance. She didn't say anything. I sighed, turning around and walking out of the door. Tears filled my eyes, and we're about to flow when a small sound rang out in the dark, the only sound that was enough to make me turn around. It was the word I had been hoping for.
