Chapter 2

•••

I woke up to the sun shining through my window, and I smile. At least it's a good day.

I drag myself out of bed and put my light blue uniform on.

I then put my hair in a sock bun, with bits off hair hanging loosely at the sides.

I put on mascara, lipgloss and a bit of blusher.

I chuck my orange high-top converse on and look at myself in my full-length mirror.

I'm decent, I guess.

My phone buzzes on my bedside table, and I pick it up to check.

'Paigey <3: I'm outside your house!'

"Mum?!" I shout.

"Yes?" Mum shouts back.

"Have you got some toast for me?" I ask.

"Yip, and I see Paige sitting on the bench out on the pavement. Come on!" She shouts.

I sling my Billabong bag over my shoulder and run down stairs, grabbing my piece of toast and thanking mum.

I run out the door, and see Paige sitting on a bench, looking at her phone.

"Paige!" I shout, with a piece of toast in my mouth. She turns around and smiles, standing up.

"Hey guuuuurl!" She says, as we start walking away from my house and towards school.

"Hey! I like your hair," I commented, seeing her hair pin-straight, and it looks like she got a trim.

"Thanks! Mum cut it a little last night," She says.

"Thought so!" I say, laughing.

We walk into school and, of course, Toni and her sheep are at the front gate, handing out slips of paper to everyone.

We walk past quietly, but of course she sees us.

"Bitches," She coughs.

I'm sick of this.

I turn around and give her the glare.

"What did you just call us?" I sneered.

"Sorry, I think you need your ears checked. I said BITCHES." She shouted.

I started walking towards her, ready to punch her lights out, but Paige caught my shoulder, pulling me back.

"It's not worth it." She says.

"Don't call me that again. Or my friend. Take a look at yourself before you judge other people, slut." I say, and turn, walking away swiftly. Paige runs to catch up with me.

"Up top!" She says, putting her hand up.

I laugh, and high five her.

"Oi, she was scared shitless," Paige laughed.

"Really? Didn't get time to look at her face," I said.

"Excuse me! Miss Rogan! Follow me." Said our head mistress.

Seriously?

"Yes, Mrs Fair." I said, following her to the principle's office.

When we enter the office, I see Toni sitting in a seat. I roll my eyes and slump onto the other chair.

Mrs Fair looks at me, and then Toni.

"Right. Toni, what's your story?" She asked.

Of course, she will ask her story, she'll lie, and then I won't get a say.
