Ember's P.O.V.
Loud footsteps echo from outside as someone approaches my room. Finally, I think to myself, my trap will be sprung.
My internal clock tells me that it has been around three hours since I woke up. My guess is that Carrots will be my interrogator due to her strong dislike of me. I doubt she will want to wait much more than a few hours considering her first impressions of me.
The footsteps come closer and counting I estimate that around six people are approaching. Am I really that dangerous?
Okay, maybe I am...
The footsteps stop outside my door and I wait, still facing the ceiling. Please let my trap work I silently beg.
A swipe noise comes from outside. Key card locks? Slowly the door slides open to reveal the grumpiest looking assassin I have ever seen. What happened to no emotions?
She strides into my room in the most serious and intimidating manner humanly possible. I turn my head just in time to see my dinner fall down. The 'meat' slides painfully slowly down her annoyed face, the gravy-like liquid leaving a brown smear. The carrot mush slops all over her head and soaks through her hair. Everyone is completely silent.
For a second I try to stay calm and 'professional' but it is almost impossible to stay serious. Loud laughter erupts from my mouth and I half collapse on the floor at everyone's shocked expressions. I manage to get out one sentence before I start laughing even harder. "You're really living up to your nickname there Carrots."
If looks could kill my body would be in tiny pieces scattered across the galaxy but fortunately, Carrots has not yet decided to murder me. Emphasis on the word 'yet'.
Suddenly a small sound that surprises me comes from directly behind Carrots. One of the agents is snickering quietly to himself. Looking closer I realise said agent is in fact the oh so serious Katniss. My opinion of the Avengers has really gone down. His not-very-manly giggling gets louder and the other Avenger sends him a brutal look.
Carrots turns back around and marches up to me angrily but still silent and grabs my shaking (from laughter not fear) arm. She drags me out of the room and yanks me harshly down the corridor. The other agents surround us and march in unison, two in front and two behind. Katniss and carrots on either side of me. I could probably take them all out but I doubt I can get through the rest of security so I continue still laughing to myself.
I follow the angry assassin through a maze of corridors which I document mentally for later. Left, left, right, straight ahead past six junctions, through security doors, right, left, third door on the right.
I am dragged inside and handcuffed to the desk of what I assume is an interrogation room. I send a smirk through the two-way mirror. Carrots glares at me and I turn to face her. "You know, you should have a shower more often, your hair's a bit dirty." I deadpan gesturing to her carrot and gravy soaked hair.
"What is your name?" She asks in a sickly sweet voice that doesn't match her face. Thinking about her behaviour, I remember she is one of the best interrogators in the world. The way she is acting might just be an act to get information out of my sarcasm. I remind myself to think carefully about what I say to her.
"You know it's rude to ask someone's name without introducing yourself first Carrots." I smile fakely, matching her tone of voice.
Katniss, who's leaning against the wall lazily finally speaks. "My name is Agent Clint Barton and 'Carrots' over there is..."
"Agent Natalie Rushman" Carrots interrupts sending a glare at Katniss.
I smile internally at this. When the Avengers first saved New York me and Alex were curious so we hacked into SHIELD to look at there file. From that information I know that 'Natalie Rushman' is in fact Natasha Romanoff or previously Natalia Romanova (spelling?).
'Lily Evans' I introduce after a few seconds, pretending to be reluctant. I would have chosen a random name but my inner fangirl was released.
She glares at me for a few seconds, trying to work out if I'm telling the truth. "Birthday?"
"30th of January." If I remember correctly that is Lily Evans' birthday so technically I'm not lying on that one. She stares at me intently for a few seconds before I hear a slight noise. I sigh mentally knowing she probably has just been told I was lying.
"Try again." She says, slamming her hands down on the metal table.
"Why should I tell you my real name if you don't tell me yours Agent Romanoff" I pause for a second as a smug smile crosses my face unconsciously. "Although, that's also a fake name isn't it, Natalia Romanova?"
From the way she looks at me I know I probably just killed myself ten times over and made my prison sentence even longer but honestly I don't actually care. She opens her mouth to speak but Katniss places a hand on her shoulder and whispers something in her ear. From what I can make out it has something to do with someone almost as annoying as me. This should be fun...
She gives me one last look before storming out of the room, Katniss following closely behind her at a more relaxed pace. I lean back on the back two legs of my chair and prop my legs up waiting for the next person to walk in.
I doubt anyone who works at a spy organisation can actually be as annoying as me...
A/N:
I am so so sorry, please don't kill me. I should have updated this ages ago but I had exams and then I was away on holiday and honestly, I forgot. Thank you to everyone for the comments and for reading my story. The next chapter might take a while to write as it will be a war of sarcasm but I will try not to forget this time. Once again I am really sorry for not updating. Please comment.-TheBookThief11
