rebels don't always get away with it.

"Why did you say that to her?" I ask Kalani forcefully as she leans back against the blue lockers. "Nina's nice - she didn't deserve that reaction from Jordyn."

"Nina said something to me in Math about how they were being rude to her," Kalani answers, trying to find any excuse she can for why she told Jordyn (who would obviously flip out) that Nina was talking about her behind her back. "So to be honest, I had a valid reason."

I roll my eyes at Kalani and pretend nothing has happened. I am not going to let this silly little fall out ruin our party. We link arms, and as we are about to be on our way, Sophia and Jojo come dashing round the corner.

"Have you seen Nina?" Sophia asks, a little out of breath.

"Nope," Kalani says, almost laughing with a glint in her eyes.

Sophia scowls and looks behind her as if to check the coast is clear, and then continues. "I'm really worried about her. Apparently someone told Jordyn something about her and then she flipped out. Nobody knows where Nina is."

"Sorry Soph, we haven't seen her anywhere." I reply politely, shrugging, although I know exactly why she isn't around.

"Okay." Sophia replies glumly, like she's failed on a spectacular mission.

Annoyed, Sophia and Jojo walk away and I turn to Kalani. "Do you want to bunk off the rest of the day? We can hide out in the girls' toilets - I've done it once before." I ask, hoping that we can get away from all the chaos. We have different lessons next anyway, so nobody will suspect anything.

"Sounds great, you little rebel," Kalani smiles, poking my arm. I've never been called a rebel before. Sure I've been a little rebellious at times, but it's not like my motto's 'rules were made to be broken' or anything.

We make our way to the toilets as the bell goes and everyone else leaves.

I'm just about to burst into conversation when Kalani stops me. She holds her index finger to her mouth, showing me to be silent and glares. I listen, to hear a muffled cry coming from the seventh cubicle, the only one that locks fully.

I knock lightly on the red plastic door.

"Hello? Are you okay?" I ask.

"Yeah, go away."

As soon as I hear the voice, I know exactly who it is.

Nina.

"Come out, you need to go to classes" Kalani says bluntly.

"Well so do you, but I don't see you going anywhere." Nina replies, her sassiness almost making me laugh. Kalani hates it when people talk back to her - so it's quite humorous to see someone else going against her for once.

The cubical door opens slowly to reveal a frizzy, brown haired girl, her eyes bloodshot and dripping with tears. Her eyes narrow as she sees Kalani, obviously knowing what she has done.

"Bitch." she remarks, her eyes never leaving Kalani's. Kalani glares back.

"You should probably leave. You don't want to get in trouble now, do you?" Kalani raises an eyebrow, willing Nina to fight back. Reluctantly, Nina storms out of the toilets and swings the door shut with a bang on her way out. "I can't believe she thought she could get away with calling me a bitch!" Kalani cackles.

I laugh a little, before grabbing Kalani's hand and pulling her back out of the girls bathroom. "We should probably go to class. After all that, Nina's obviously going to tell on us." I roll my eyes.

"Ugh," Kalani groans. "Fine! Let's go."

I huff, walking down the corridor with Kalani at my side. We look into the Geography room to see Nina sitting at the back of the class on her own, Jordyn giggling (probably about Nina) with Kendall.

"Bitch." Kalani whispers as Nina looks up through the window at her.
