I woke up disorientated and dazed, I don’t know where I am but where ever it is it is absolutely gorgeous. It appeared that I am sitting on the ledge of a coral reef, and it offered a very amazing view that left me almost breathless. There was such a variety of colour that I’m sure no one would be able to just simply swim past without having to stop and glimpse the beauty before them.

Hearing a soft snore from beside me I looked over to see Abbadon, the man who saved me from the dark cavern I had been trapped in for so long. He had been nothing but kind to me, a stranger who had almost got him killed for my weakness. Yet he chose not to abandon me when we were ambushed.

The memory of the ambush brought me out of my musings of the man beside me and left me confused. The Oceanids had never acted so violently towards us before, so why are they now. And when I think about it Abbadon did change the subject the first time I asked, but why was that? What could have possibly happened while I was held captive that caused so much anger and animosity between our societies?

Hearing more shuffling beside me I looked over to see Abbadon beginning to wake and knew that this time I wasn’t going to let him change the subject. He was going to tell me what was happening right here and right now.

With that in mind I reached over and shook his shoulders so I could wake me up faster. All it did was make him moan and turn onto his side and away from me. Huffing out a breath I reached over and began poking his cheek instead, hopefully I could annoy him enough that he would have no choice to wake up. This seemed to have a better affect because he raised his arm and tried to swat my hand away, but of course I just stopped until he put his arm down and began poking him all over again.

He groaned and began mumbling a few curse words under his breath and I knew that I had finally won, he wouldn’t be going back to sleep any time soon. I watched as he stretched out his limbs while still on his side, watching his muscles flex I knew that I should look away but it was hard to do.

After some struggle I managed to tear my eyes away from his bulging muscles and said, “So you’re finally awake.”

I knew he heard me because he jumped and immediately tensed before spinning around to face me. I tried to keep my expression blank but I could feel my lip twitching upwards, I found his reaction funny, didn’t he know that I was still here? By the way that he relaxed when he saw me I knew that he had in fact forgotten that I was still here, I again found this strangely amusing. Maybe it’s because I have had nothing to really find funny after being stuck alone in the dark for so long.

Abbadon stilled looked a little dazed with sleep, his eyes still a little glazed over, but my scaring him had definitely made him more alert. Seeing me stare at him he mumbled out a, “Good morning,” before slumping down against the wall of the ledge, rubbing his face with his hands. He still looked tired but I knew that he would be wide awake as soon as I started my interrogation.

Deciding there was no use in beating around the bush I chose to be blunt and just straight up ask him what I wanted to know. “Abbadon, why are we not allowed in Oceanid water and why did they attack us when we were there?”

At first he just stared at me like a stunned mullet, his eyes wide open and his face had a disbelieving expression. Maybe I should have beat around the bush first, oh well it’s too late now and this would mean I get my answers faster anyway. Or maybe not since he still hasn’t answered my question and still has the stunned mullet look on his face.
