( ELENA'S POV )
I've been driving for about five hours and feel like I'm going to fall asleep at the wheel , but I can't stop. Klaus threatened Matt and he's still human so he's like a walking target, plus it's not like I'll die is I end up crashing. I have been looking for this abandoned farm he told me to meet him at, but am having troubles. I soon saw an old, wooden sign that was pretty faded but I could make out the word 'farm'. This being the first farm I've come across I assume it's the one Klaus ment so I quickly pull in as I only had four minutes before the meeting time.
I drive down the driveway for a minute before I see Klaus leaning against the hood of his car with something cradled in his arms. What the hell is that? I park my car but keep the headlights on so I can see where I'm walking before unbuckling and getting out of my car slowly. You never know what Klaus is planning so I am more than sceptical about being near him in such an isolated area.
I walk over to him slowly and watch as he smirks at me before adjusting whatever is in his arms. I look to his feet only to see a baby carrier and diaper bag. "Klaus," I start, "Please tell me you didn't kidnap a baby." I say cautiously watching to see his reaction. Oddly enough he just chuckles causing my stomach to do flips. Oh god, his laugh is amazing. No! You can't think about Klaus that way he killed Jenna and a bunch of other people! Even though he's the most beautiful man I've ever seen he's a monster.
I was brought out of my thoughts when he started talking , "No Elena, I didn't kidnap her. She's my daughter, Hope." I opened my mouth to point out how impossible that is, but he cut me off. "I know it's impossible for vampires to procreate, but werewolves can and this is just one of nature's loopholes, or at least that's how the witches put it. Any way I'm living in New Orleans, a town that has been my home for many centuries, and it's too dangerous for me to keep Hope there. So, I need you to care for her. Give her all of the love and attention she deserves." I cut off Klaus before he can continue, "I can't do that Klaus, I'm on the run from Damon and the rest of them in Mystic Falls."
Klaus simply laughs at me before continuing once more, "So is she, Elena, my aunt Dahlia made a deal with my mother that in order for Ester to have children Dahlia would get the firstborn of every generation. She is still alive somehow and is now after Hope, so all I ask is that you take her with you and keep moving around until I make New Orleans safe enough for her to come back. In return I'll never bother any over your friends in Mystic Falls. Unless they come after me of course." So if I take care of his kid for a few years or so he'll never hurt my friends unprovoked again? That's a pretty good I idea. Plus, I really like kids and since I can no longer have any of my own it would be nice to act as a mother for a while.
I took a step closer and peeked over the blankets that were wrapped around her only to see a beautiful little blonde baby. I couldn't help but smile at her before stepping back and looking back at Klaus who was smiling at me. Damn, that's one sexy smile. Stop it Elena!
I sighed before talking, "Fine, I'll take care of Hope." His smile grew bigger causing his dimples to show. The sight alone made my breath hitch in my throat. I smiled slightly back at him as he slowly handed Hope over to me. I held her as close to my chest as I could while she slept peacefully and I gently rocked back and forth. I looked back up as Klaus grabbed the pink and purple plaid diaper bag and matching carrier. He didn't hand them to me, but instead went to my car and put the bag in before strapping in the carrier.
"I'll take good care of her. You don't need to worry and I'll make sure she stays safe. We'll find some out of the way town to stay in for a while before moving on to another small town," I said. Klaus smiled at me before reaching into his back pocket and pulling out two pieces of paper and handing them to me. "The one with Hope's name on it is a letter from her mother, Hayley." "Wait what?!" I cut him off at the name of Tyler's wolf friend. "Yes, her and I got drunk and... well you know. Any way the other one is something I'd like you to read. It'll explain what has happened in New Orleans and I'd also like it if you read it to her as a bedtime story as she grows older." I nodded to him and watched as he reached down and kissed Hopes forehead with what looked to be tears in his eyes. It must be hard to give up your child.
Klaus took a step back before walking to his car and opening the driver's seat. Before he got in he turned to face me again and gave me a pained smile, "Thank you, Elena," he muttered before getting in and driving past us. I looked down at Hope and and smiled at the sweet, sleeping baby. I'll protect her with my life not for Klaus, but for Hayley I always kinda liked her and couldn't say anything because of Caroline. I'll protect her baby girl with everything I have, not matter what.
