( Klaus's POV ) *when Elena's arriving*

I looked up from Hopes sleeping face to see headlights making their way up the long driveway. I smirked to myself knowing Elena didn't want to be here, but her selflessness pushed her to endanger herself for her loved one. I admire that about her, not that I'd ever say that out loud. The car slowed to a stop and she took a second before slowly getting out of her car. No doubt scared of my intentions.

Elena walked towards us slowly, eyeing the lump of blanket that was in my arms suspiciously. Her eyes shifted from me to the carrier and diaper bag at my feet and her eyes widened. "Klaus," she started cautiously, most likely scared of my reaction to her question, "please tell me you didn't kidnap a baby." I couldn't help but laugh slightly at her comment and immediately heard her heart rate increase. A blush rose onto her cheek and I quickly understood, she likes my laugh. Good to know.

"No Elena, I didn't kidnap her. She's my daughter, Hope." She opens her mouth, most likely to point out how impossible that is so I just cut her off. "I know it's impossible for vampires to procreate, but werewolves can and this is just one of natures loop holes, or at least that's how the witches put it. Any way I'm living in New Orleans, a town that has been my home for many centuries, and it's too dangerous for me to keep Hope there. So, I need you to take care of her. Giver her all the love and attention she deserves." Elena quickly stopped me, "I can't do that Klaus, I'm on the run from Damon and the rest of them in Mystic Falls."

I already knew she would say this so I was well prepared, but we both know she'll take Hope. She would never leave a child in danger. I couldn't help but laugh before I responded, "So is she, Elena, my aunt Dahlia made a deal with my mother that in order for Ester to have children Dahlia would get the first born of every generation. She is still alive somehow and is now after Hope, so all I ask is that you take her with you and keep moving until I make New Orleans safe enough for her to come back. In return I'll never bother any of your friends in Mystic Falls. Unless they come after me of course." I add a small offer just to make her feel better. Wait why am I trying to make her feel better? She is just a form of protection for Hope. Even if she is insanely beautiful, selfless, kind, caring, smart. . . WHAT THE HELL? Why am I thinking this way about the doppelganger?

I shake myself out of my thoughts as she took a few steps closer and peeking over the blanket at Hope. The proximity of her body caused mine to buzz slightly. WHAT THE BLOODY FUCK IS THIS FEELING. I couldn't hold back a small grin as Elena smiled at her before taking a step back and looking up at me with her beautiful doe eyes. Ugh, I'll have to ask Freya later maybe she'll have a solution. "Fine, I'll take care of Hope." Elena sighed and I once again smiled. She smiled back at me before I handed Hope to her and grabbed the carrier and diaper bag. Looking back up I saw Elena holding Hope close to her chest and gently rocked her back and forth. She's a natural. I carried Hopes things to the car before setting up the seat in the back and setting the bag on the floorboards.

She walked over to the drivers door, but didn't open it and instead stood in front of it. "I'll take good care of her. You don't need to worry , I'll make sure she stays safe. We'll find some out of the way town to stay in for a while before moving on to yet another small town," Elena says with a slight giggle at the end. Her laugh is nothing like Tatia's or Katerina's it's not as soft, but more sweet. I smiled at the sound before reaching for the letters and handing them to her. "The one with her name on it is a letter from her mother, Hayley." "Wait what?!" She whisper yells before peeking back down to make sure the littlest wolf is still sleeping. "Yes, her and I got drunk and... well you know. Anyway the other one is something I'd like you to read. It'll explain what has happened in New Orleans and I'd also like it if you would read it to her as a bedtime story as she grows older." Elena nodded to show me she understood before I leaned down and kissed the top of my baby girls head while fighting back tears. I will not cry in front of anyone.

I took a forced step back and saw Elena look at me with sympathy before I walked back to my car, get in, and drive away from my child. I know you will take good care of her, Elena. Rebeka was right to call you a bloody momma bear.
