Officer Bradly ran into Barns office..."He's gone."

Barns looked up in shock at the man panting in front of him.

"What are you talking about?"

"Jason Masters is missing. He wasn't in the head count on the night shift."

Barns jumped from his chair. "What do you mean he wasn't accounted for?"

"He just isn't there anymore. We have looked everywhere. He's gone."

"Put out an APB out for Jason Masters now. Send a unit over to Amy Carson's I'll head over there too."

"APB is already sent out and I'll have a unit head over."

Barns ran to his car and drove as fast as he could to my house. He could see the garage door open and a body in the driveway. His stomach turned when he saw Hali thinking it was me. He called in for an ambulance but knew as soon as he felt her body it was to late. He ran into the house looking in every room calling my name.

"Amy...answer me." He searched through the house..nothing..not a trace.

He had to make the call to Michael. After he gave the order to put a trace out for my missing SUV. Barns made the call; a tired voice answered the other end. "Hello."

"Michael."

"Yeah, who is this?"

"It's Detective Barns..Michael, she's gone..Amy is gone."

"What are you talking about she's at home. I just talked to her earlier."

"Jason somehow escaped his holding cell."

Michael jumped out of bed. "What do you mean he escaped? How is that possible?"

"I'm not sure but he did and he came for, Amy."

Michael sat back on the edge of the bed his legs going weak.

A hard lump in his throat. " I'm on my way home."

He threw everything into his bag and raced home.

The drive was long and he couldn't breathe the whole time.

When he finally reached the house in the early morning hours he could see police cars all over they stopped him at the entrance. Barns ran to Michael and waved him through there was a body covered in the driveway. His stomach dropped with the thoughts of it being me. He stopped in front of the driveway.

"Is that...?" he pointed at the body.

Barns followed his gaze. "No...that is Amy's friend Hali." he looked through his notes to make sure he had the name right. Michael sank he couldn't believe that Hali was gone and if Jason could kill her then what was my fate?

Michael could feel his rage build.

"How in the hell did he get away?"

Barns couldn't figure out what had happened.

"We are trying to figure that out but what's important right now is finding Amy."

Michael walked into the house and there was cops everywhere with scanners set up.

"Why are these people here why aren't you out there looking for her?"

None of this made sense to him.

"Jason or Amy could call we need to be ready to get a location. Trust us Michael We know what we are doing. Just relax."

"Relax..really? You've got to be kidding me. The only thing that I love is in the hands of a psycho and you want me to relax?"

He paced back and forth holding his head.

He grabbed Barns and other cops came over. Barns waved them off letting them know he was okay.

"I'll relax when you get her back."

I faded in and out in the back seat. I could see the sky turning into a deep orange in the early morning sunrise. It took me a minute to realise where I was and what had happened. A voice snapped me out of my daze.

"There you are wasn't sure if I had hit you to hard but I had to get you in the vehicle somehow."

His face was blurry but I remembered the night events leading up to this drive.

I felt my head it was throbbing and was wet. I looked at my hand blood dropped down in beads. This was real and Jason had me to do with as he choose. All I could do was pray that it would be quick.

"We are going to have to change vehicles soon. They are looking for your's gotta be one step ahead." he spoke to me as if I was in on this plan like I was an accomplice. I sat up feeling dizzy and sick. I can get out of this I could run when we stopped but the world has to stop spinning first.

As soon as I'm with it again I would run maybe he would just shot me if I ran; either way I would escape him. I couldn't take another rape or more beatings. My mind was made up no matter what it took I would get out of this.

We drove until he found what he was looking for an abandoned car. It sat behind a barn and looked in good condition. He was satisfied with his find. He parked behind it and tied my hands together then to the door. He wasn't taking any chances. I watched as he picked the lock on the car and hot wired the engine. It started right up then he moved everything over and grabbed me. We drove off and I watched until my SUV was out of sight. That was last part of my life gone. The miles passed and we got farther and farther away from Cannon Beach. We were in California now and the only time he would stop was for a quick piss along the side of the road. I knew that we would need gas soon and that's when I would make my escape. I glanced at the gas gauge it was close. Soon I would get my chance. There was a lonely gas station out in the middle of no where he must have thought this would be safer. After he pumped I watched him walk into the station. His ego must have been getting the best of him again because he left his phone in the front seat. Nervously I grabbed it and dialed Michael's number.

The phone began to ring Michael reached into his pocket it was an unknown number. Barns looked at him. "Answer it."

"Hello."

"Michael."

"Amy, where are you?"

"I don't have much time he will be back soon. We are sitting at a gas station in California, somewhere in the middle of nowhere."

"Are you okay."

I lied.."I'm fine just come get me, please."

"We are trying."

Jason was coming back. "I have to go. I love you."

The phone went dead.."Amy..Amy."

Michael dropped the phone. "I love you too."

I put the phone back just like he had it and laid back down.

Jason got in and looked back at me. I didn't move or breathe hoping he had no clue. I needed one more chance we needed to be in a public place to find help or if I could make another call. I would bide my time. We drove through the night down the coast. I had a feeling where he was going...Mexico. If we got through the border it would be over. Whatever I was going to do it had to be soon. He kept to small towns and low traveled roads. When we finally stopped it was a small motel. He got a room on the very end. He turned to me with a look of anger. "Don't make me knock you out again. Are you gonna be good?"

I nodded.

He pulled me out of the back and covered my mouth. We got in the room and he tied me to the bed post near the bottom. Then he flopped on the bed and passed out. I guess I get to sleep on the floor. It didn't matter because sleep wouldn't be coming tonight. I stared at him wanting to kill him while he slept. It was one of the longest nights of my life. I watched the sun come up through the small opening in the curtains. After he showered we were back on the road. Mexico was getting closer I had to do something.
