Five hours passed until Roderick Kingsley finally reached his office where Quentin Beck had been locked up for the time being. Out of the colossal gilded door an ear deafening sound came bursting through. Once he neared too door closer, it became louder and appeared to be sound of combined tinkering and hammering.
Kingsley looked at Cindy who tried to ignore the rumble, but still looked like she was about to lose her patience. ''Cindy?'' He asked. ''Yes'' She said instantly while being slightly reliefed. ''When was your last lunch break?'' He asked. He looked to be very busy on his phone, like he was constantly planning and making connections on his phone, but in reality he was just playing Candy Crush the entire time. But it made him look like he didn't have any time to talk to others. ''Nine hours and fifteen minutes ago, sir'' She said softly and knackered.
''Well, my last coffee was about 30 minutes ago. So Cindy, be a dear and run downstairs and get me a pumpkin spice latte'' Kingsley said smiling. Cindy slowly stood up and nodded softly. ''Yes, Mr Kingsley'' She said and walked towards the elevator door to await for it to open. Once Cindy entered the elevator door closed Kingsley moved and walked to the gilded door. ''If he so much a scratched my desk I swear to god I will--'' He said while opening the door.
Somewhat surprised he gazed around his office to see that it was still in tact and to be honest it looked better than ever. ''It. Is. Done.'' Quentin divulged while bowing down and making an applauding gesture with his hands. Next to him a gantry like structure underneath a large purple sheet. Kingsley being speechless looked astounded around him. ''Okay. How did you do this? Just a few seconds ago I could still hear you--Doing whatever it is you were doing and--D-Did you clean my office?'' Kingsley questioned.
Quentin chuckled and crossed his arms. ''I--I'm a fast worker. As for your office. Yeah, I had some time left. Do you have any idea how dusty it was in here?'' He said with a wrang smile. ''I--You know what I'm not even going ask for any further explanation. Are you all set?'' Kingsley asked.
"W--What you mean right now? You want to do it now?'' Quentin asked rushed and surprised. Kingsley speed walked to his desk and opened one of the drawers. After opening he grabbed his set of keys out of it and marched to the door. ''Well, what are you waiting for? I haven't gotten all day. Shift it!'' Kingsley said and he opened the massive door. ''I'm--I'm not ready yet--I--'' Quentin stuttered. ''You said that whatever you were doing was done, right?" Kingsley asked.
Surprised as ever Quentin shook his head in confusion, looked at his creation and then back at Kingsley. ''Yeah, but--I mean I designed and build a prototype. I've never done anything like this before, there's no telling what could go wrong--I mean I haven't done any calibrations whatsoever and what if--'' Before he could even go on with rambling and doubting a exaggrated sigh from Kingsley filled the air. ''Can you just shut up, grab your gear, follow me to floor -0 and get in the car. Can you just do that for me? I would really appreiciate it and that coming from me means a lot, trust me'' Kingsley said as the sound of the door slamming followed.
Quentin was now alone in the room with two options remaining. Stand here for another half an hour overthinking thinks or work up some guts and go through with this certainly illegal plan. After thinking it over for exactly 60 seconds, sighed deeply, shook his head and made his decision. ''I'm sure they're worst things going on in the world right now, right?'' He whispered to himself while chuckling nervously.
10 stories down was Kingsley waiting or as he called it 'fabulous time wasted'. Through the spacious room the only sound hearable was the constant and non-stop clicking sound coming from his phone. After a while the sound got interrupted by the sound of elevator doors opening. Kingsley turned around gleefully and smiled. ''I honestly started to think that you already left the building minutes ago, but my oh my you actually pulled through'' He said smirking.
