Ruby's Pov.
When I woke up and opened my eyes, I was on the floor. But I noticed I was in a different area now. Pushing my body upwards to a sitting position, I trained my eyes on all the details of this place. There were desks everywhere; brown and written on the surface. The tiled ceiling was cracked and looked as if it'd come crumbling down at any second. And the floor.. My hand lightly traced the carpet in small circles. Soft..
This place... It was strangely familiar to me. But why.. How did I know where I was? Where was I?
I squeezed my eyes shut and tried concentrating on all the previous locations I had been to. I knew it was a school, because of the class-look this room had. That helped some.
But which school was this?
I also knew that I had been to this school because I remembered it so well. One of my years at one of my schools, I had written something on one of the desks as a memory... Maybe that desk was still here!
It was a stupid idea to search, because surely they must have changed the desks by now. But it was worth to check.
I stood up and began running down the aisles, quickly scanning the desks for my name. It was written out clearly, if I remembered correctly, so it must be easy to see.
Soon, I was down to one aisle to check. I walked slowly, making sure I got a good look at all the details that were drawn on the desks.
One was left. Crossing my fingers, I walked even slower towards the desk, feeling my heart flutter from worry. What if-
What if this. What if that. Just get to the desk.
I nodded to myself. I should just go on and get it over with. There's no point in stressing out over nothing.
My legs sped up, and soon enough, I was at the desk. My eyes hungrily searched the entire surface for any information.
To my complete luck,
I found nothing.
"Damn!" I cursed loudly.
The childish voice that echoed in the small room startled me, making me trip backwards, nearly falling down. Was that.. Me..? Did that voice really belong to me?
"Hi?" I gasped out as the very young voice talked again. It was me! This sounded like..
And suddenly I knew. I practically went flying to the very first desk that was in the right corner of the room.
Ruby H~ 8th
I was in middle school. My last year until I graduated to high school. So the desk was actually still used!
Wait.. No. This is just a memory...! If it were to actually be a middle school classroom, they would've put new desks. No way would they keep these old ugly ones.
"So what now-?"
My answer was answered right away. Kids' laughter filled the outside of the halls, making the silence go away temporarily. It was almost time for class. Now to go to my desk.
I rushed quickly to my seat, and watched as the door to the classroom clicked open. A bunch of kids came flying in, hurrying to get to where they normally sat.
Why this memory? Nothing bad happened. Or was there something-
"Ruby!" An unforgettable voice called out to me. Liz.
Her head was poking into the room.
"I'll see you at lunch!"
"Yeah, see you!" I yelled back happily, waving like a total idiot at her as she left to her class.
