CALUM'S P.O.V.
Today's the start of our little vacation before we go back touring with the lads of One Direction. I think me and the boys needed it anyways but then there's this camping that my family and mom and dad's family friends do every summer. I was not an exception. But I'm fine with it since the band will also be there. Hey, there mom's are more vicious than mine.
Mom's so rapped-up about this years camping. I don't know what's all the fuss about. I mean, she sees her friends everyday. By now, they're probably sick of each others faces but nooooo. I went to the kitchen to get some juice when mom barged in with so many grocery bags.
"Are you going to feed an army?" I asked widening eyes wondering whats with all the food. I know it's for the camping thing but seriously? She never goes this far before.
"I just don't want anybody getting hungry" she replied giddily. She sounds more excited than last year. She didn't even bought this much food.
"What's so special about this years gathering anyways?" I asked taking a sip of my juice.
"Well this year Nancy and her family are finally coming back from London and they'll come to the camping!" she squealed with a smile on her face.
I almost spitted what I was drinking from what I heard. "Mrs. Nancy Peige?" I asked shocked hoping that I was wrong. But then looking at my mothers face right now doesn't give any at all.
"Yes! And she's bringing your friend. Remember little Gab?" she smiled.
No Fucking way.
Then I was brought back to those days..
*FLASH BACK*
It was a sunny morning and mom and I were at the play ground. Mom was going to introduce me to one of her friends daughter. We were walking our way to a woman standing near the monkey bars, a little girl came out from behind her. She was wearing a jumper with big goofy glasses on. Her hair was shoulder length and dirty blond. She saw me and flashed a smile but her two front teeth were missing.
Cute.
I blushed just looking at her smile. Then mom talked to her mom. I watched her.
Mom introduced me to her.
"Calum, honey, this is Gab. She's Mrs. Nancy's daughter. We'll just leave you two here for a while ok? Me and Mrs. Nancy need some catching up to do. You guys play well" with a kiss on my cheek she left with Gabs mother.
I felt butterflies in my stomach going crazy. I've never been alone with a girl before.
"Hi I'm Gabriela Peige people call me Gab but grown ups call me Gabby i don't know why I don't like playing girly games because I got four brothers and maybe that's why I hate playing dolls but I like playing basketball and soccer... " said the toothless girl rather fast not catching her breath at all. I just stared at her.
" Ahh you don't talk that much... It's ok! I'll do the talking for us. Wanna play?" I just nod at her feeling that my voice would fail me if I talked.
I like her.
And that's when we became friends. We became more close since that day. We always went to school together, go to lunch together, play, sleep, everything (except showers that's just gross). Every time was Gab and Calum time.. . until I opened my big mouth.
Gab and I were playing at the park after school when Luke and the other boys came running towards us.
"Hey Cal! I haven't seen you in a while. Wanna play with me and the other boys?" Luke grinned. He was my best friend but I don't wanna leave Gab alone right now.
"Don't worry Cal. You spent too much time with me already. I'll be fine" she assured me with a smile. She's still missing her two front teeth.
I still find it cute.
"Are you sure Gab?" giving her a worried look. And she nod.
"Thanks Gab. Come on Cal" Luke grab me and went running away from Gab. We didn't went too far when Luke broke the silence.
"You spend too much time with Gab. It's fine actually but you're forgetting me" Luke grinned. Luke never minds even if I spent too much time with Gab. He is just too understanding that way. But I don't want Luke to think I prefer Gab. I actually don't want people to think I spend a lot of time with her. It makes me feel hot and embarrassed.
"I don't spent more time with her. You just think I spend more time with her" I defended matter-of-fact.
"You're kidding me right? Cal, it's fine don't worry. I know you like her" he teased. This is what I hate about Luke. He is understanding but teases you until you go running crying to your mom. And I hate being teased.
"I don't like her!" I snapped getting irritated.
Then the boys start chanting.
"Calum and Gabby sitting in the tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G.."
" Stop that! I don't like her! Why would I even like her? She's not even pretty! She's a four-eyed toothless freak!" I yelled from embarrassment. I regret saying it afterwards when someone threw a bag at me. My bag actually. I looked behind to see who threw it and saw Gab in the verge of crying. Her eyes lost that cheery glow. I think she just heard my outburst.
"So that's how it is? I'm ugly? A freak? Fine. YOU CALUM HOOD ARE.. ARE.. FAT!" she yelled pushing me. Then she ran away obviously crying.
*END OF FLASH BACK*
We fought ever since. We hated each other ever since. And now I am spending my vacation with the girl that gave me a hell of insecurities.
So much for a relaxing vacation
