Texas was bright, bright and dry. It wasn't uncommon for you to see heat rising off the asphalt. Erica couldn't begin to imagine what it must have been like for the humans.

When alive, Erica lived in the north, moving around among from town to town with her brother. It was almost always col din the north, the winters were harsh and long. She had grown to love the snow and all that it would represent. James and herself were paid much more when people were scared to go out and hunt for themselves. Catching and skinning hides paid the quite a bit when they were some of the best in the game.

Erica was thankful she didn't experience the heat as humans did. Sweat was something she could no longer remember, something she wished never to remember.

The two vampires stood in the shadows of a house in the main part of town. The sun shown far too bright for them to even consider stepping out into the street. They busied themselves with observing the people, taking in the various scents and behaviours.

Human's would glance towards the immortals continuously, maybe of them whispering to their friends or neighbours about the two stunning strangers.

"This town is sort of boring, why exactly did we come here?" Victoria groaned from her side.

Erica chuckled before sending the girl a smile. Victoria often complained about the paces they went, never finding somewhere that was to her standards.

"You chose the town, Vic," Erica teased. "You said something about small towns having the finest cuisine."

The redhead smirked at her sister a mischievous gleam in her eyes. "Well, culture is hick in these back country places. They learn to let the flavour stew."

Erica's laugh drew the attention of the small town people. Their eyes widened and hearts sipping beats at the sound of her twinkling laughter.

"You're crazy, absolutely crazy." She slung her arms around the girl, pulling her closer. Erica held her sister in a tight hug. "You're crazy and I love it."

Victoria gave her sister a genuine smile and hugged the blonde back. "Not as crazy as you, Snow."

The nickname choked the girl, it had been a few decades since anyone had called her that. It was a joke among them, a joke that angered her easily and that she was quick to put an end to.

"Alright, little red, let's not get ahead of ourselves." Erica tucked her hair behind her ear and faced the people that were staring. "You mean a lot to me Vicky, I wouldn't want to get rid of you."

"I mean a lot to you?"

Erica looked back at the redhead in confusion. "Of course you mean a lot to me, you are the only family I have left. I would do anything to ensure your safety."

The redhead's eyes misted over, she would have cried if she was capable.

"Enough with this emotional stuff," Erica pushed Victoria away and began to skip along the shadows. "I'm famished."

Sprinting over the dry expanse of land, Erica wondered how long Edward had been looking for the siblings.

He had been hunting them for a rather long time and she wondered how anyone could be as bad as he was. Edward was slow and a mess; he relied on his mind reading far too often.

Shaking the thought from her head, she took hold of Victoria's hand and slowed her to a stop.

As much as she enjoyed the being chased, it wasn't the same without her brother.

"Edward," she called as he finally reached her. "What a surprise to see you here."

His snarl echoed in the empty air. His entire body screamed fury. Victoria flinched at Erica's side, the girl moved slightly behind her sister; Erica felt anger flood her. "You-"

"I would rather not go through pleasantries. You are a filth that I do not want to deal with," Erica hissed. She felt Victoria stand straighter, confidence filling her as snow begin to appear in the Texan heat.

"You're trying to kill my mate, I have no pleasantries for you," the man spat.

Erica laughed, she laughed hard; and when she could no longer laugh, she forced herself to laugh even more. Willing herself, she thought of Bella and all the pain that the small human was in. It brought her joy to see how distraught it made him.

"We each want different things from your mate, but keeping her away from you for eternity is something we agree upon," she spat.

"If only you weren't weak, you could have turned her. Kept her at your side for eternity," Victoria purred to him, her features were catlike, eyes dangerous and calculating. "My dear sister believes she will make a wonderful immortal."

"You took away her chose, belittled her. How said it is to see you worry bout her soul when she has already gifted it to you," Erica glided forward, every step was taken with caution. "You don't get to worry about her potential damnation because we will be showing her how to live like the devil."

Edward backed away from the girl, nervous at his odds. He death was something he had wanted for a very long time, but not if his Bella needed him.

"Don't move," Victoria said. "It gets her excited."

Erica's grin was harsh. "I like to play games. You will do well to remember that when you attempt to hunt us down."

Edward crouched into a lunge, preparing himself to attack when a bolt of ice hi him in the shoulder. He shot back, flipping in the air before landing on his back with slam. Pain shot through him and as he righted himself he found that he couldn't move his arm. The limb felt frozen, it hung useless at his side.

"Stay away from us, we don't need amateurs like yourself sniffing at our trail like some kind of dog," Erica threatened half-heartedly.

"We have enough as that as it is," Victoria lightly teased. A shit eating grin on her face as Erica glared at the girls awful timing.

"Next time you're in the mood for games, send one of your brothers. Maybe even that beautiful blonde, she seems like she's be quite vicious." Erica walked away from the confused vampire, taking hold of her sister's hand.

The girl spoke together, their words causing panic to erupt in Edward. "Don't worry we'll take great care of you darling mate."
