Chapter Ten

Sam's POV

"I'll protect you" I told her, and I meant it. Esme was beautiful inside and out, her smile could brighten up my day and I loved the way her eyes sparkled when she laughed. Do I love Esme? I'm not sure

She lifted her head to look at me, pressing her lips gently on mine for a second

"Thank you" she whispered, I looked into her usually crystal blue eyes, which now appear a light shade of green

"Your eyes" I spoke, astonished at the change

"Oh, sometimes they change colour when I've been crying" she blushed

The cab drew to a halt, I was instantly reminded about our date

"You have to wear this" I pulled a blind fold from my pocket and tied it around her eyes

She laughed quietly as I guided her out of the cab and towards the door


Esmes POV

"Can I take it off now?!" I whined playfully, I felt Sam loosen the not on the blindfold

"Yep"

he said, pulling it from my eyes to reveal a beautiful, sparkling pond with a table placed by the side of it. The table was covered in rose petals and candles were dotted on the grass. Fairy lights were hung neatly from the four wooden podiums which held a waterproof shade, in case of rain

"Do you like it?" Sam asked after a few moments

I nodded, speechless "it's beautiful!" I smiled as he wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me towards the candle-lit table

"What's this?" I asked, indicating to the silver bell placed in the centre of the circular table

"Ring it" he smiled. I pressed my hand on the bell, only to have Nicholas appear dressed in a suit at the doorway

I laughed and he approached us, pulling out his notepad

"Drinks?"

"Diet coke please" I sang happily

"Make that two"

Nicholas skipped away, after placing his notepad in his pocket

"Don't worry he's not cooking" Sam chuckled

3 hours later, we had finished our three course meal and I was ringing the bell every ten seconds just to annoy Nicholas

"What now!" He moaned, taking the bell from my hands and running back towards the kitchen

"Shall we go?"

I nodded, taking Sam's hand and heading towards the cab

"This was so sweet" I cooed, as he laced our fingers together

"You don't think it was cheesy?" He smiled

"Just a little bit" I laughed, indicating a cm with my fingers

"Ha Ha Ha" he said sarcastically

I looked outside the window at the busy roads of London on a Friday night, watching as the cab pulled up at the hotel

Sam payed the driver, and we headed towards the elevator

"Thank you for tonight" I smiled as we reached my door

"Next time I get to surprise you" I added

"Who said there's going to be a next time?" He joked, reaching for my hand and playing with my fingers

I watched as Sam placed a hand on the wall beside my head and leant in

I felt his lips touch mine, and the sparks erupted in my stomach like fireworks. My lips moved in sync with his as I cupped his face in my hand

The lift doors swung open, revealing all four judges in conversation

Me and Sam instantly pulled apart, both of us turning bright red

"Um, night" he said, taking a step backwards

"Yeah, night" I spoke, turning around and pushed my key into the door

"Well that was awkward" I spoke to myself as I shut the door
