-Two Days and 6 Minutes Later-
The friends that she made over the last five days stared at her, mock saluting. Alice laughed and saluted back, holding the parachute close.
"Goodbye!" She called backwards. And with one last breath, she moved her foot forward and pencil dropped into the dark depths of the side of the world.
Alice embraced herself as she hit the solid ground.
"Ow...." She groaned. Looking around, she whooped with joy.
"YES YES YES! I'm back!" She cheered, hastily grabbing the growth device out of the backpack Calvin kindly gave her to store the ray in.
"Ok ok ok..... Please work." Alice shut her eyes tightly and pulled the trigger.
...
Nothing.
"Nooooooooo!" Alice screamed "Why must you do this to me stupid inconvenience plot?" Upon further inspection, she saw that the trigger was glued to the handle with what seemed to be a golden thick liquid..?
"Oh geezes Calvin done goofed didn't he?" Alice deadpanned. Fortunately, the tigger wasn't too stuck, she just needed someone stronger.... As in larger.
"Diann!" She snapped her fingers in realization "She can help me!"
And thus began the tedious journey of climbing the stupid, stupid, tall and -oh my god why is it so waxy who is this cruel- table.
"Ermahgwad" Alice grunted, placing another hand above her with great difficulty... Just for her to slide back down again.
"You know what's, screw this." She threw her hands in the air, walking a few spaces back, just to promptly run back towards the table leg and jumping with as much force as she could manage in the last minute. Yet once again, she fell downwards. Except, this time, as she took a running jump, she fell faster and harder, causing the backpack on her back to open. The growth ray slipped out and started to zoom towards the impending ground. The fall managed to shake the liquid out of the device and the trigger pressed down just as it hit the floor, and as the ray charged, a brilliant green light shot out, hitting Alice who closed her eyes from the blinding light.
A warm and tingling feeling encased her and the air around her felt cold and solid. Opening her eyes, she uncharacteristically laughed again, falling backwards on the hard floor of the library.
She was back.
