The Plan

Blurryface woke up long after Cry Baby did, and it pained him to see her there, sitting all alone with tears streaming down her melting face.

"Hey." He choked out, feeling like "good morning" was too cheerful of a greeting.

"Hi." She mumbled, looking over to him. He hated this. He hated the way her eyes had lost their twinkle, and how her joyful face was now long and grey.

   He wanted to fix this.

   But he didn't know how.

"What can I do for you?"

"You can just be here. I like it when you're here." She announced simply. He obeyed, sitting down by the couch.

She laughed humorlessly. "You can sit up here by me, you know. I don't mind." He obliged and draped the blanket over himself as he cuddled next to Cry Baby. He put his arm around her comfortingly, and she let herself shrink into him. He'd never felt anything like this before, but it was as if his heart was having a Fourth of July party, fireworks shooting through his veins.

But he couldn't bring himself to enjoy the situation. Cry Baby was a complete wreck, and rightfully so. He searched his mind for something to help her.

   Then it hit him.

"Cry Baby... What if we left this town for a while? Neither of us are really enjoying it here, and Summer's on it's way. Let's take a vacation." He tried his best to make his tone sound hopeful, but not too happy.

"I like that." She muttered after a while. "Where would we go?"

"Where would you like to go?"

Cry Baby shrugged. "Anywhere but here. I'd take a vacation to Hell if it meant I got a little time away from this place."

Blurryface smiled at her. "Okay, but we could maybe go somewhere nicer than Hell. How about... California?"

Cry Baby's eyes widened when he said that. "Oh, my. I'd love to but... can we afford a trip to California?"

"I'll wait until I strike oil if that's what it takes to make you have the best experience possible."

Cry Baby grinned. "That's so sweet."

"No problem. But really, we should think of something. We need a week or so at a nice hotel, and have enough money to enjoy all the things to do in California, and four plane tickets, there and back."

   "Wow. Okay."

Blurry thought and thought until he had a headache. He still strained his brain to come up with something useful.

   "What's something you're good at?"

Cry Baby shrugged. "Psychology." This made Blurryface chuckle.

"Um... This sounds ridiculous, but, what about a magic show?"

Cry Baby looked up to Blurryface. Her teary eyes had a spark of amusement in them.

   "A magic show?"

"A magic show!" Blurry concluded enthusiastically. "We could sell tickets at the local theatre, and look up the best tricks. You're quite charming, and I'm, well, quite mysterious. We would make a good team."

   "Seriously?"

   "Yeah! Why not?"

   "Okay."

They both laughed lightly, even though everything inside them was joyless.

   "A magic show."
