Beth and Oliver had stayed up that night, while Oliver and the dragons fell asleep Beth stayed up and watched the storm go away to show a clear sky. Once the sun had come up she wandered the mansion. She hadn't been in here since she left for the army.
She fingers ran along the walls as she traveled down a short flight of stairs that led to the basement. It was dirty and dust was floating around calmly. She sneezed and covered her mouth with her arm as she searched for the lights.
"Beth?" Called out Oliver. Beth paused and looked at the op of the stairs louder was still in the room. She ignored the basement and traveled back upstairs to the younger girl. She closed the basement door and met Oliver half way.
"Hey, what's wrong?" She asked seeing the girl held a thick book in her hands.
"I can't do magic." Olivier stated solemnly with wide eyes. "I mean I expected it but...damn...." She stated softly her eyes flashed an icy blue making Beth wince. Oliver looked at her. Her eyes still blue. "What?" She asked. Beth glanced at the mirror on the wall. Oliver turned and her face paled. "Oh god." She stated. She shifted he book under her arm and looked at her nails. They hadn't changed but tonight was the full moon and they were bound to change. Oliver's heart beat sped up as he started to panic. Beth out her hands on Oliver's Boulder turning her away from the mirror.
"Oliver you need to calm down. It's you to be okay. Just find an anchor you know how to do this." Beth said in a soft soothing voice. It didn't help much as Oliver's pulse went up again her eyes staying an icy blue, she licked her lips her canines growing sharper and her nails growing. Beth winced and bit her lip. "Hey! Just think of Stiles?" She stated quickly. Oliver's eyes widened and Beth realize her mistake and closed her eyes.
"Oh my god Stiles! I didn't even tell him I was leaving! I was supposed to be back in a day holy crap! Omg!" The teen stated. Beth opened her eyes and found that Oliver was back to normal despite how she was freaking out. Her eyes flash blue but they flickered before going back to their natural color. Oliver ran her hands over her face as she slumped against the wall dropping the thick book on the floor. Beth took her hands off the girl and slumped against the other walk across from her. Brig girls slid to the floor. Beth pulled her legs to her chest.
"Maybe if we tell them what happened-" Beth started but Oliver cut her of quickly.
"No!" She shouted. Her voice rang throughout the empty house. Oliver cleared her throat shaking her head. "Sorry. No. It's just. I told them everything was okay. And it's senior year. You know? We just took out two people who came back from the dead and a bunch of assassins. And me an you..." She paused and glanced at her. "Me an you are fine. So there's nothing to worry about. Right? I mean I can't do magic but I'm a werecoyte or whatever. Fine. Your good." She stated nodding. "Right?" She asked looking Beth in the eyes. Beth stared at the girl before blinking and nodding looking at her own hands. Now they were both lying and they new it. Beth was not fine. Trying to do the simplest thing would turn her into a dragon. Beth, while having an anchor wouldn't be able to hide the fact she can't use music. And there was still there the mystery of how she got here. Seeing as though one of them was supposed to have been dead. Down the hall came small clicking noises. They girls looked up and down the hall to see JJ and Al. Al stopped and squatted his eyes lighting up. He spun around quickly JJ snorted and stepped away from the slightly bigger dragon as his tail and wings slipped about. Al stopped abruptly and then sprinted to Beth slamming into the girls hip causing her to fall over and grunt.
"Ow!" She called out and picked Al up but the scruff of his neck. Using her other hand she rubbed her hip. JJ walked calmly to the girls his chin up in the air. Once he reached them he sat down gracefully and looked between the two woman then shot a glare at Al who was being cradled in Beth's hands. Oliver laughed softly and picked up JJ ignoring his protest as he tried to get away.
"Are they always like this?" She asked confused. She scratched JJ behind his neck causing him to instantly relax and purr in the girls hand. She giggled softly as Beth snorted and nodded.
"Pretty much. Al is a free spirit while JJ is a bit of snob." She state standing. She held out a free hand to Oliver pulling her up. "Cmon. Let's get our story straight. Then I'll drive-" she paused. "Walk you to the school tonight for Senior Scribe." She stated happily. Oliver sighed an nodded holding JJ in her arm.
"Yeah. You gonna go and see Parrish?" She asked as they walked to her room. Beth licked her lips.
"No. I think I should see my mom after Scott. Tell them I'm alive. Then I'll go see Parrish." She stated nodding.
There was a comfortable silence after that as the girls went to Oliver's room. Beth didn't want to tell the girl she was scared. Scared of what had happened and scared of what was going to happen because she felt that something was most defiantly wrong. But she kept it to herself as she sat on the girls bed.
